From the second I walked in to this office I felt I was an inconvenience to the lady at the front desk she was VERY unapproachable. Its so sad that society has lost the values of patient care. This is a place you are supposed to go and feel comfortable talking with professional health care providers and it starts with your office staff sad to say this place is missing it by a long shot. Parents bring there kids to your office in hopes for improvements in their young lives. I would suggest to do your best at being professional and set your ego aside when your on the clock working in a professional setting.

Theres some really nice and sincere staff here who care but too many inappropriate ignorant workers as well. ANA MCNABB has made me super uncomfortable and refuses to listen to me about any of my concerns and recommends me off putting things. Ive never had to deal with someone so unprofessional Ive tried getting a new psychiatrist but so far no luck. This is not a person who should be talking to patients who are mentally struggling. She will belittle you with tiny comments and acts like shes the only one in the right and refuses to be wrong about anything. She doesnt know anything about therapist communication and she wanted me to stop taking my medication just because I was unemployed for a while which was absolutely terrible and she NEEDS to be held responsible and educate herself on the fact that people need certain medication on a daily basis no matter what theyre doing. ADHD effects my everyday life I dont need to have a job in order to take it I need to take it everyday regardless. Shell just say not true to anything you try saying and is honestly just so behind and its not fair that her personal opinions and feelings get in the way of something thats suppose to be a safe professional place for patients.

The front office staff is careless and not empathetic at all. They charged fees and did not provide services because they wanted both parents consent to treat a child. The parent was denied services for the child until the neglectful parent also consents to treatment. By 3 minutes the parent who had been waiting for 3 hours for the child to be seen was denied services as well because he did not turn in his paperwork with the childs. They work very slow and are great to talk about other non work related things and stop to place starbucks orders and drinks at their desks at the cost of patients time. People with mental health services need access to efficient health care without so many obstacles.

Dont come here for mental health Or anything for that matter. My son needs help and they said walk ins are from 8-11 and we got here before 11 and we were turned away because the front desk lady said it would take to long So then maybe you shouldnt tell people 8-11am you should say 8-10am They dont care at all about people Mental health is a sensitive matter and they are rude and uncaring about someone who needs help Beware of this office

Im not usually one to complain but when it comes to the health of my family I will speak up for them. They were told that they need to bring a translator or be charged last time I checked under the Title III of the Americans with Disabilities ACT If we as the PATIENT feel THE NEED FOR an interpreter in order to understand what the doctorhealth care provider is telling you then the doctorhealth care provider is REQUIRED to provide you with one. Also not to mention how they referred my father to the wrong specialist and have yet to confirm a new specialist considering his current health Thanks I guess.

My child had the initial intake and was never connected with a therapist. I called 3 different times and left messages and still no call back. This is for mental health consistancy is key in a business that is aimed at helping people. If they are understaffed I would have been understanding and taken my childs needs elsewhere. Instead we waited for a call that never came.

I was referred here by my Doctor because of my SMI and wanting to seek help. That was over a month ago and still nobody has helped me. I went in person to the office and did what I needed to do. I did two different intakes and both people said somebody would be calling and nobody has called or emailed or even followed up. Every time I call I cant get a real person on the phone and its just beyond me how people come here for HELP and you make life that much harder by making us jump through hoops and beg you guys to do your jobs. if I wasnt on the verge of suicide before this would only help drive me there. just wow.

I was offered assistance with my personal needs. The caseworker did not keep appointment. Rescheduled with the same person and again she did not show nor did she call. Im not feeling so great about these forgotten appointments. Very unprofessional.

Office staff is extremely short on the phone. They dont return calls or contact you about requests for medication refills. They let your dependents go without medication if not seen every 6-8 weeks even if you have an appointment scheduled. Its all about money rather than caring for their patients.

Frequently Asked Questions
The simple answer is: whenever you’re ready. You are your child’s greatest advocate and protector. It’s okay if you don’t have all the answers, or aren’t able to perfectly explain everything. You can still educate those around you about your child’s autism when you have the energy to do so. Check out our complete guide for examples and tips.
Teach and practice calming strategies with your child. Helping your child learn how to manage their emotions and reactions is very important. Teach your child different ways they can calm down and relax, such as:
Deep breathing, counting to 10, using sensory toys (like squishy balls or putty), going for a walk, listening to music
Build "relaxation time" into their normal routines and schedules
Practice these when your child is happy and calm so that later, when they’re highly stressed, they can access these skills
Yes, picky and selective eating is actually a quite common concern for children with autism. If you rolled your eyes looking at the steps above because your child with autism has never had a full day's serving of vegetables in their life, you are definitely not alone. As if getting kids to eat their veggies isn’t challenging enough, research shows children with autism have significantly more eating challenges than their peers who are not autistic.
In addition to sensory difficulties that can lead to a lot of anxiety with food, autistic children are 4x more likely to have gastrointestinal issues such as stomach pain and discomfort. This creates the perfect storm for extra extra picky eaters - and a lot of added obstacles and concerns for parents.
The difficulties associated with autistic children and food can cause a wide range of concerns from children being underweight to overweight (overweight children can still be at risk for nutritional deficiencies!). This can lead to slower than normal growth and nutritional deficiencies like low vitamin D and calcium levels. Even when given multivitamins, many children with autism are still found to have some of these nutritional deficiencies.
Here are some tips:
Keep to a schedule - setting schedules for meal and snack time can help picky eaters build up their appetite throughout the day
Minimize distractions - removing distractions like screens and toys can help your child be more engaged at mealtime
Approach new foods together - Make new foods less scary by trying them together. Touching and smelling the food together before tasting it
Support choice & control - Allowing your child to pick which foods they eat will help them feel more in control
It may not seem obvious, but eating is a complex behavior that involves perceptual, emotional, and cognitive processes. And we know that children with autism process things differently. While many of us look forward to things like our afternoon snack, it may be an activity that causes a lot of anxiety for your child.
Parents describe food selectivity being determined by a few of the following factors: texture (69%), appearance (58%), taste (45%), smell (36%), and temperature (22%). Uniform texture, bland and neutral color foods are reported to be overwhelmingly preferred by more than 90% of children with ASD.
