About Stavros - Amherst

Our mission at Stavros is to help persons with disabilities and Deaf people develop the tools and skills they need to take charge of their own lives. We accomplish this through programs and services designed to meet the needs of persons of any age or disability as they work to achieve the life goals that are important to them. Real independence also means a community free of barriers, and we work as advocates throughout the Pioneer Valley, across the state, and nationally to bring an end to discrimination--whether it's rooted in a set of stairs, prejudice about employment, limited access to health care, or anywhere else.

This place has really gone to bat for me over and over. Never had any problems with the case managers and each one has been incredibly helpful going above and beyond to help me with applications gathering resources and reaching out to the housing authorities directly to get updates and advocate on my behalf. Granted all case workers especially those in the housing sector are overwhelmed with the amount of people needing help with little infrastructure and state funding to help people. Be patient and proactive things will fall into place eventually.

I have had more problems and horrible service since dealing with this place I literally almost had a stroke trying to advocate for myself in getting help after having surgery because no one calls you back ever and my MaHealth coordinator also has never had anyone call her back after multiple times of calling and leaving messages. And I wont even talk about the payroll company Tempus because that place is worse then this. Totally not from here n need help finding another place for services if I cant get something done right on my case before my year is up in 3 days. Very sad they are supposed to help the disabled live independently but I feel this company doesnt do much to help you and what they do do is stress you out more and waste your time

Ive been trying for two months to talk to a case manager or nurse or literally anyone about having bilateral PE and not being able to walk until I go through rehab. No one has called me back. Not a single call. At this point Im going to try to get the state involved because this cant be legal the way they treat clients they are getting insurance money from.

Been working with them for months and got paid twice so far. Just avoid. Luckily I stick with it because my client is cool but this place really is something else. How can a place just blatantly not pay people Is it because they are partnered with the state so they have more wiggle room Very disappointed with them and do not recommend anyone use their services. Im sure Im going to get the typical Well why arent you calling if youre not getting paid If I have to track someone down for the money I am owed then that says a lot about the company. Just overall avoid it. Even the headquarters building is all run down and dirty looks like it should have been powerwashed a decade ago. They dont care

I have a LOT to say about my experiences dealing with Stavros as a new hire PCA. I have been working for only 4 months so far and in that short time have had countless negative or incompetent interactions. Firstly my new hire forms were sent in right away. I am resourceful and great at organization so I sent my forms immediately. These were never received by them which is a fancy way of saying someone lost them forcing me to resend them all well over a month into already working for my consumer. I was contacted rudely in a tone that implied I had never sent them. TIP 1- send your paperwork with tracking so it needs to be physically signed for by someone. Doing this forces some accountability so no claims of lost paperwork would happen a second time. There is sensitive info in those forms and Im not pleased that y social security number could be floating around somewhere. Next I was eager to get onto the online portals for orientation and payroll. Faxing timesheets is an extremely outdated practice so you would think that getting their people the info they need would be a no brainer. All you need is a PCA ID and consumer ID number to log into their various accounts. To access this took forever and no one ever returned my many calls for this info. Luckily it was printed on my pay stubs which I only received bc my bank form was not processed or else who knows if I would have been given this information as requested.Every single time that my consumer or myself have called in with specific questions you must leave a voicemail. When someone finally gets around to calling you back 85 of the time it is not even someone who can help you with the specific issue you called about so they pass you on to someone elses voicemail or claim that so-and-so will call you back with the info. It seems so difficult and lengthy a process to resolve anything promptlyHeres my biggest issue. Why provide the instructions and videos on the site for the online pca training and orientation if no one can be bothered to actually send people the info on it You are never told you need to take any action to set this up. The link to the site is there but you cannot simply log in to complete this. If it was just a matter of signing one more form why is that not included in the paperwork available online to make it one less thing for the stavros employees to have to deal with Or at least have it stated somewhere that in order to be registered for the training that is advertised all over the website that you need to fill out this form that they do not immediately provide you with No pca wants to have a fine hanging over their head for training that couldve been done quickly and easily on a website that is advertised. It just blows my mind that every interaction I have had with attempting to call the offices is like a week long game of back and forth phone tag where the caller is lucky to have any resolution by the end of it. It seems everyone there is trying to send the caller to someone else and does not have the info you need nor do they make it their problem to help you out. The only time I have had prompt resolution is when I contacted them via email through their website probably bc in that case there is a paper trail if they do not quickly respond to your inquiries. When someone says theyre going to send you a form shouldnt they have sent the form I dont see what is so difficult about easy requests like that. With the bulk of the paperwork available on the site it should be a file that is easily downloaded or printed off the website like the rest of the forms so that way we can help ourselves and get it done quickly.

My husband works for them and they often dont pay him on time. I was supposed to get my direct deposit today and we faxed the timesheets to the new fax . I didnt get paid on time and neither did the other PCA. We are working in the mist of a pandemic and not being paid on time really complicates things for the employees and delays our ability to pay bills. This situation shouldnt be taken lightly. Never in my life have I worked for an employer who keeps delaying payments so frequently. If this was a one time thing I would understand but this is a consistent issue. There are laws that protect employees from this type of problems and honesty I can imagine an investigation into the company when they delay one too many paychecks. Its unacceptable My husband has worked 12 years as PCA and it has happened every year. My sister in law whos the surrogate cant even get info from customer service. Im ready to take legal steps if I wont get my paycheck within 6 days of the pay period. I have attorney general information and a lawyer on stand by. Also I know 4 other PCAs with the same issue who work for the same client. You guys cannot keep playing with our money. Pay us on time or figure out why payroll is so dysfunctional Now surrogate needs to pay to refax time sheets because of their system Money for that comes out of my pocket weekly. Very unhelpful and I see the owner never solved this issue since it keeps happening. Instead of apologizing solve this matter once for all. I worked for various hospital as a higher level staff than a PCA NEVER did they withhold pay.

My daughter works as a PCA with me. As of a month ago Stavros has not paid her. When we finally got ahold of someone there we got bs excuses as to why. We finally got the first one she was missing on Friday. Now she is still missing one and we are on a new pay period. I want to know if this is going to keep happening. Their customer service is no good. My time sheets and hers get faxed in at the same time. NOT ACCEPTABLE WHAT THEY ARE DOING TO MY DAUGHTERS PAYCHECKS

Ive worked here off and on 7 yrs. I agree 100 when you call the customer service personnel is HORRIBLE. They rush you off the phone snap at you are just simply rude. I LOVE my job the case workers whom do home visits are GREAT but I dread having to call. There should be a better system for the PCAs if theres a change with the insurance company or anything that affects the PCAs pay they DO NOT notify you you realize when you dont get paid then you call they have an attitude. Ive worked without being paid many of times I pity folks because not everybody will be willing to stay without being paid.

Terrible to try to get a hold of. After waiting sometimes up to an hour . Theyll send you to a voicemail that is full. When payrolls are messed up on hours it takes forever for you to get ahold of someone to get it fixed. Ive had 2 clients with the company and never had this many problems that I am this year with my new client trying to be paid for my appropriate hours. Very difficult
