My husband had a hemorrhagic stroke. After being discharged home and completing PTOT at home he was referred to the Sargent Center by South County Visiting nurses. I had been able to stay home from work to care for my husband for 2 12 months. I wanted to get him involved in services as soon as possible so I may return to work as scheduled but also make sure all his needs were met prior. I immediately contacted the Sargent Center as soon as he was being discharged from home care services. I was told they required an order from his PCP. I called the PCP and asked that the order be faxes to the Sargent Center. I checked back a few days later and was told that they had not received the order from the PCP. I called the PCP and discovered the order was faxed to the wrong fax number and they told me they would refax it. I called the Sargent center 2x after this..still no order...PCP states they faxed it 2 more time to the appropriate fax . I went to the PCP and got a print out of the order. I called the Sargent Center and advised them I had the order and was told We need more info from the PCP first. I asked what that could be as I have ALL my husbands hospital discharge paperwork including the reports from his CTMRIs. I was told they would contact the PCP for what they needed. I asked that if they were NOT able to get what they needed or get in contact with PCP if they could let me know so I could get things moving as I was now in a rush had to return to work and my husband had not had PT in 3-4 weeks. Her response was It will be 3 more weeks until he gets an appointment . My husband had a stroke they came HIGHLY recommended however I hung up called elsewhere and in 5 minutes he had an appointment elsewhere closer to home for next week. Best if ALL he can bring the order with him to that initial appointment. You think SOMEONE could have taken some initiative at the Sargent Center to expedite things given his diagnosis. Dont refer anyone there they obviously do not care.
