I really cant say enough good things about PASCO. Last summer my sister suffered from a debilitating stroke that landed her in the hospital and skilled nursing for over two months. When she was finally able to get home she needed a great deal of assistance from speech physical and occupational therapy to nursing. Im her only surviving family and live on the other side of the country. I felt out of my depth and very alone. Within hours of my first call PASCO had swooped in with therapists and intake specialists. They were sympathetic to the situation and attentive to my sisters needs as well as personable and compassionate.Pauline Colton and the other therapists worked with my sister for much of the last year. They were consistently competent and dedicated to my sisters recovery. Shes made great strides in both mental and physical recovery. They were also just cheerful lovely people to have in my sisters life. Pauline regularly reached out to me to head off any potential issues with her care and was available at the drop of a hat if I had concerns. Colton moved hundreds of pounds of roofing material into the garage when winter came. Above and beyond is all I can say. Organizational cultures are like peoplesome great some bad. PASCOs is like your one friend that somehow manages to be super successful but also the nicest guy in the world. Highly recommended.

Please if you care about your loved ones look elsewhere. I have been with PASCO very little time and every clients house I have been to complains how PASCO has went down in the last few years. They dont let them know ahead of time who is coming to their visits and what time. They will also will send CNAs who the client has refused just to get the schedule filled. I am from Texas and have been in healthcare 14 years. I love my clients patients like family. I have been through enough with them overworking me and telling me different pay rates schedules and tossing me around like a rag doll. They care about the money more than the needs of clients and employees. Please consider other options. - from a current employee and a concerned citizen for the disabled.

I started with Pasco in early 2013 I was welcomed with such warm and caring hands. I had well educated staff that would advocate for my son and his needs along with help teach me along the way. I know I was cared for as an employee and as another family provider. There was never a question if my son would be cared for in my absence I know he would be by loving and compassionate care givers of Pasco. A year ago I had another agency offer me a position. I THOUGHT the grass would be greener but I learned very quickly that it wasnt My son was seen as a dollar amount and I was only a number. There was absolutely NO compassion or empathy for my sons needs or who cared for him. There was high turnover with nurses and administration at the other agency. I called pasco to come back. Not only did they welcome me back they have paved the way for my son and I. I know now my son and I are in the best hands possible Pasco is the greatest home health agency in Colorado Danielle Miller is God sent

I am generally not one to write reviews online however I think its important for folks to know information when choosing a respite provider. My daughter has needed visits to be scheduled for weeks and my wife has left many messages with no return call. When someone did finally call her back last week she was told she wasnt with the scheduling department and couldnt help us but said she would email scheduling. When my wife asked when she would hear back the lady said she had no idea. We still havent heard back from them and are not able to schedule any respite visits so for the last month we have had a respite provider and she has done six visits but wont be paid because we never heard back from PASCO. I wish there was ANY other provider that worked with children on the CLLI waiver. What an awful way to treat families who have so much on their plates already.

Not enough staff to cover visits. Tonight they have 60 open visits and were going to have my bed visit at 6 p.m. That would leave me in bed about 14 hours tonight. This is not okay PASCO has expanded beyond its capacity and this began well before the pandemic. They continue to expand despite CNA shortages. Clients are human beings not just names on a schedule. We deserve to start our days well before noon and end them well after 6 p.m. CNAs deserve not to be harassed by dozens of texts from staffing to pick up visits to have their days off respected. Clients and CNAs deserve their lives back lives not negatively impacted by uncaring business practices of PASCO management. Treat us both with respect and dignity hire more CNAs and treat them like valued employees then Pasco can be a company worth recommending again.

PASCO has been an amazing support system not only by providing services for my daughter but through their continued advocacy at the state and community level. This makes living in Colorado a much better experience than in states that do not have this resource for families who are supporting loved ones with developmental disabilities.

Frequently Asked Questions
The simple answer is: whenever you’re ready. You are your child’s greatest advocate and protector. It’s okay if you don’t have all the answers, or aren’t able to perfectly explain everything. You can still educate those around you about your child’s autism when you have the energy to do so. Check out our complete guide for examples and tips.
Teach and practice calming strategies with your child. Helping your child learn how to manage their emotions and reactions is very important. Teach your child different ways they can calm down and relax, such as:
Deep breathing, counting to 10, using sensory toys (like squishy balls or putty), going for a walk, listening to music
Build "relaxation time" into their normal routines and schedules
Practice these when your child is happy and calm so that later, when they’re highly stressed, they can access these skills
If you’re interested in understanding the non-verbal experience, we recommend watching The Reason I Jump. If you’re looking for a movie that can help your child understand their emotions, many neurodiverse families love Inside Out. Check out our autism-friendly movie guide here.
For both a scientific and personal look at autism, we recommend reading But You Don’t Look Autistic At All by Bianca Toeps. Check out our full book guide for more great reads.
Hero Elementary is great for the young ones. Songs for Littles is excellent for toddlers learning how to talk. And Ranking of Kings is a great option for anime and fantasy fans. See our full list of the best TV shows about autism and inclusion.
Your pediatrician might be able to administer screenings, but most general doctors are not trained to formally diagnose autism. They might refer you to a qualified diagnostic clinician which include:
Developmental Pediatricians
Child Psychologists
Child Psychiatrists
Pediatric Neurologists
Pediatric Neuropsychologists
Your experience might look different depending on the type of clinician you choose. Many families prefer working with developmental pediatricians. Others might work with a psychiatrist or another specialist to get a different perspective.
A formal ASD diagnosis, or a medical diagnosis, helps you get the support your family needs, especially within the context of accessing medically necessary therapies and services.
Insurance Coverage for Therapies: Medically necessary therapies for ASD are often covered by insurance including, but not limited to, speech therapy, ABA therapy, and occupational therapy.
Financial Support: A diagnosis is required when applying for social security or disability benefits.
Plan for Care: A diagnosis helps identify your child’s support needs. For example, your child might need to develop social communication and self-regulation skills.
Future Research: The more data we gather through evaluations, the more we can improve services for autistic children and adults.
Most children go to daycare before they enter preschool at age 3 or 4. Most children stop daycare at the age of 6 when they go to school. Children who are homeschooled might continue daycare programs. Kids diagnosed with autism or other developmental disabilities might be in both daycare and therapy programs longer. Special needs programs and centers help children up to 26 years old.
