Something is going on here similar. It is a really neatly designed building. A friend invited me to tag along to a brief medical appointment and we went up to like the 15th floor. There is even a tram that takes people up the hill. Its located near where a lot of trolleys stop. It is a really nice place to go walking. I overheard a conversation at the Flying Elephants Cafe about people with accents having a harder time finding jobs. I did not eat at the Flying Elephant Cafe so I cant comment on the food or beverages. There is like this propensity for ego mania happening within the walls of this phenomenal building made into a medical facility that is meant to serve the public and for this reason I am not sure I would feel safe getting treatment here. My body might be targeted for use in the medical school because I am technically homeless sometimes it is more obvious then at other times. However I do wonder how much favoritism goes on depending on what kind of health insurance a person has. Is OHSU world re-known yet I was able to charge my iPhone for a bit. The medical students are the good people in society and it was nice seeing them with cheerful attitudes ready to learn about how to treat patients. I get the sense that management is really stressed out here because it is getting ultracompetitive to rise to the top. The setting is ideal overlooking Ross Island.

Ive been with this teaching institution for 22 years and most of my doctors are located here. Individually some departments are better than others in terms of customer service. They tend to be a lot less selective about the people theyre hiring now due to the fact that so many people are resistant to returning to the workforce in person and demanding to work from home with higher pay. Theyve hired a lot of really young schedulers who lack customer service skill or compassion and patience for older or unwell patients. This can make it difficult or frustrating to even get scheduled and I have often experienced hang ups or disconnects in the process. In my experience it can take weeks to get a return call from some departments such as the sleep clinic. As a result of lowered customer care standards you may get some arrogance or rudeness when trying to schedule with certain departments. In addition the level of care has gone down and it takes months to be seen by departments such as Cardiology and the Sleep Disorders clinic. Another change is the fact that if you need to see a specialist such as an actual Cardiologist you will see a physicians assistant first followed up with an extremely short 3 to 5 minutes maximum with the actual Cardiologist.. which will take you 3 to 6 months to get into depending on who you see. Staffing is an issue here and has been steadily declining for quite some time even though we have been on the tail end of COVID now for quite a while. It seems that covid has become a convenient excuse for continuing to remain short staffed and it doesnt appear to be improving. The ER is frequently diverting patients to other area hospitals so if all your physicians are at OHSU and you need emergency care good luck. You have a good chance of being diverted to Good Samaritan Providence or Legacy Emmanuel in NE Portland among others due to continued short staffing in the Emergency Department...and most other departments as well. The last few times Ive had to be in for cardiac issues patients on gurneys often line the hallway with little to no privacy while waiting for a room to open up. Consequently the level of customer service and care has really gone down and it doesnt look like it will be improving anytime soon. Having said all that their OHSU Richmond clinic out on SE 39th and Division does a fine job serving clinic patients. So if you are looking for a general physician you can try that OHSU affiliated clinic and you should receive quality customer care and service with a plethora of physicians to choose from and they also have an internal pharmacy at this location.

UPDATE After many calls got a rep that was super helpful and fixed the situation. Was told I would be charged one amount prior to a telehealth appointment and was charged three times the amount. After inquiring I was told Id get a call back in a week and did not. When I followed up they claimed there was no documentation of the inquiry in the notes. Doctors and nurses are great. Customer service and billing is not.

The NICU almost killed my brand new baby girl By giving her a blood infection. They also treat babies like rag dolls The nurses are to busy socializing to even care for the babies they are watching. The doctors poked my daughter 6 TIMES for failed spinal taps that apparently in the end she never needed Every time they poked her they missed for drawing blood. It goes on and on I WILL NEVER GO BACK HERE AGAIN DEFINITELY DISGUSTED WITH THERE CARE....ps I have worked in health care for over a decade be warned

They saw to my health needs. I dont like the fact that they cut out my right hip leaving my leg a good 6-9 inches shorter than my left without informing me first. What I thought would be a quick antibiotics fix actually changed my world forever. Sometimes I feel like a guinea pig when Im at OHSU. And the impact team here can be rather pushy. Some people dont have a life of their own I suppose.Im on week 3 and its been a ride. But the food is very very good I think. Its made from scratch and they even have their own bakery. The nurses are very nice and helpful and are happy to help.

What an amazing group of doctors and nurses here at OHSU. I have never been in a hospital of more compassionate loving staff. The OBLDNICU departments are spectacular. I am so grateful we were lucky enough to be here.

Where to even begin.... The ortho 9 unit nurses were amazing in caring for my loved one. One Nurse on that unit overstepped boundaries but shout out to Hector The rest of the teams are a complete joke. They dont have any concerns and truly mean the best for you as you are just a paycheck that is how it felt. The worst care from a hospital that I was under the impression that this hospital is supposed to be the best. Make sure that you dont attend here and if someone you know is then I wouldnt leave them unattended.

There are a lot of reasons why this place is so great. I can specifically speak for 10A. The nursing staff is wonderful and kind and eager to help. They are quick to help their patients and do it with a smile. The people make this placeThere are also currently nearly 800 volunteers total in the hospital that are there specifically to make patients stay more comfortable. The volunteer program is well organized and that shows by the level of training and scheduling. And the view of Portland is awesome
