High turnover rate and my nonverbal autistic son was constantly put with very young new to the industry learning as they go before connections at the school could provide ways for them to get certified at the lowest level for special needs children. Many left quickly and I have to wonder if they were ever really ever capable of helping my child. At the time my son was very young. I believe he was 3 but they recommended 40 hours a week of Aba at there facility. I was learning as I went and my son had developed autism right at 2 years old so I went with it and was assured he would get the help he needed. At the same time I had found an autism parent support group in Roswell at 6pm once a week. I drove 2 hours for that support at a back room at an indoor park for autistic children. I was happy to have some people that I could talk to privately. I had been taking that long drive from Cartersville to Roswell in traffic for at least a couple months if not more when shortly after having a short conversation with the other parents showing what information they get daily on their children including how potty training was going their mood what they did that day in detail and even detailing I believe in a graph where they were that day with the original or recent set goals I was excited for them and wouldve loved that info. I showed them what I got daily when it was remembered to be sent home. Drastic difference. A few days later at Cartersville ABA see Naomi visibly upset arms crossed mad face and speaking with her husband Sean the manager of the school- tell me thats not a conflict of interest next to her outside. She tells me We need to talk. I follow her in to a back office where she basically goes off breaking me into tears and had gotten all my personal concerns from my SUPPORT group. I was reprimanded and obviously in a vulnerable state trying to get help for my son and myself. Im sure I apologized bc that is just who I was then. I shouldve advocated for my son at least in that moment if not for myself too. I was blindsided by it and felt my privacy was violated by Naomi my private support group as well. I was racked with anxiety and not sure what to do. Soon it would be clear. They made an issue for myself and my son after that day obviously mad about the fact I told my support group simply Id LOVE info they get from the ABA they send their kids to. I mean thats understandableI thought. Not long after I put a post it in the lid of my sons lunch box that said pls open his food for him. My son didnt know how to do that and his lunch box would come home with several items unopened. He couldnt eat unopened food. I got a call or message saying THAT would be my sons last day and to pick him up at the end of the day. They mentioned the post a note and were so upset about it They obviously hadnt gotten over the fact that in my support group I wouldve loved the information. The other parents were getting from their school daily so they knew where their kids were on their goals. I was kinda shocked I left work immediately picked up my extremely kind mother to ride with me to the school fearing what anger they would have when I got there. Sean came out. Sean had always been a kind man to my face so I was great with that until he brought out a moving box with the lid open with all the food snacks and drink River shouldve been consuming over the time he was there. It appears he wouldnt eat or drink properly at that facility. I was never told that or I guess the extreme of it. He had no problem when I moved him to another ABA further away but recommended by a friendly autism mother. I took pictures of Sean holding the box. I was contacted by a helper there I trusted and my child loved shortly after. She told me she really believed Rivers hives were stress related River was passed around to new people with no experience bc he was a happy child and was easiest in this ABA. Owned out of Africa with no contact info to state concerns Theres more but Ive maxed out letter limit here.
