Developmental-behavioral pediatricians will have completed: 

• Four years of medical school
• Three years of residency training in pediatrics
• Board certification in pediatrics
• Additional subspecialty training in developmental-behavioral pediatrics (typically 3 years) 

Developmental pediatricians are certified through a process that involves a comprehensive examination process, administered by the American Board of Pediatrics.
