About The Ecumenical Center - Ewing

At The Ecumenical Center, we serve as a catalyst to bring together community leaders in the research, education, medical and mental health professions. The purpose is to allow us to offer professional help and hope in a caring atmosphere. Our counselors and educators recognize that the body, mind and spirit are interrelated. They are people of personal faith with an openness and understanding of other faith expressions, trained to incorporate, when requested, the understandings and traditions of the client’s individual beliefs in the growing and healing process.

This mental health facility has been a blessing for me. Counseling for ptsd and other issues like Cancer. The counselors are amazing.I have had therapists all throughout my life this counselor is very good. She gives me tools to cope homework to help resolve issues I come in with. This center is sending therapists from this facility to help the families dealing with the aftermath of Uvalde Elementary School shootings. My counselor is among these therapists. Prayers for this center and all it does for our community.

Miss Marissa is my music therapist. She is very kind affectionate and above all unbelievably awesome My past therapists were on the rude side but here at this center it is quite the opposite. I know Miss Marissa cares about me and wants to help me. I love coming to music therapy. She has really helped me. I love Miss Marissa and I would give her 10 stars She wants to help me and I feel that. I want her to stay here forever Nicholas - 11 years old

My wife and I were running late to an appointment due to the babysitter being late. We called ahead to let the center know we would be a few minutes late. We were told we would have to re-schedule our appointment. I ended up getting charged for the therapy session I never even got to attend. It was my first time trying out therapy so maybe Im just nave and this is the standard in the industry but Ive never been charged for NOT receiving a service. When I tried to pay the bill online I found out that the center doesnt let you make online payments. The center will also only inform you of your due payments via physical mail no call no text and no email to inform you of your due payment. If you do decide to use this center for therapy never missre-schedule an appointment. They will take your money anyways. Also if you need to pay them back be ready to do it in person or by mail.

If I could put 0 stars I so would The receptionist Noel was very unprofessional and rude I called in the morning to reschedule my appointment she informed me that I had to cancel and the counselor Jackie Chavez would get back with me which she did and we agreed on taking my child at 330pm. We make it to the 330 appointment and Noel who works front desk was extremely rude her body language said it all she was very snappy Whatever miscommunication they had with Ms Chavez and Noel had nothing to do with me But yet Noel was adamant that I didnt care about my child since I had canceled and told me I should take my child else where Like really who the hell does that My child is there for help and Noel should take training on how to do your job I will not be taking my child back there Very unprofessional and despicable Horrible place

Very disappointing considering my church recommended this place. We were seen once and told we did not need to come back. No strategies were given to assist in dealing with hurt andor anger. Whats the point of counseling I told him my goals for therapy and he didnt even care to truly help.

If I could give this place 0 stars I would. I made an appointment and met with Dr. Emmett twice. On my initial visit I was given paperwork to fill out at the front desk. I filled it out but it turned out to be the wrong paperwork. On my first meeting with Dr. Emmett I briefly discussed the reasons for my visit. He gave me some assessment forms to fill out and told me to set the next appointment at the front desk.On my second visit he was 15 minutes late for our meeting. He didnt apologize or even acknowledge the fact that he was late. Instead he seemed bothered and asked me if I brought the filled out assessment forms. I said yes. He told me that I needed to bring them in prior to our 2nd visit which he failed to inform me of. Our second visit consisted of me sitting there for 45 minutes while he went over the assessment forms. Which would have been avoided had he properly notified me of the process. Afterwards he briefly explained the next steps and said that he would refer me to a primary care physician that would prescribe me medication. I tried to ask questions to better understand his assessment but he clearly did not want to answer much less elaborate. I continued to ask questions but he clearly did not want to discuss anything but reiterated the next steps. He was clearly upset that I had questions. I voiced my concerns and he dismissed my concerns and said thats all I can do.I basically wasted my time and money. It is sad that many doctors in our day and age are more inclined to make their job easier than to help and are nothing more than drug pushers quick to write a prescription or make a recommendation to have drugs prescribed based on very little information. They dont try to take the time to understand whats really going on despite the fact that we pay for their services. I paid cash for both appointments I implore you to not seek help here

My 14 year daughter was given an appointment card with a date and time. I showed up and the pregnant receptionist informed me that she didnt have an appointment. I had just pulled her out of high school drove 40 minutes with traffic and my daughter walked into this clinic sobbing. Which anyone could see. She never apologized and informed me that there was nothing to do for a half an hour because I was early but that the counselor had someone booked at 4pm already. She was quite snippy. This was the second time she was rude to me. I told her she needs to be more professional. Its astounding that she works for a mental health facility and has an visible upset 14 year child walk into her office and there nothing she can do. The counselor did personally call me back while I was stuck in traffic on the way home attempting to calm my daughter down. Too late to turn back. She did say she cleared her next appointment for my daughter. Too little too late. Wont be going back. Highly unprofessional.

Saw Dr. Richard Amiss and could only waste a few sessions with him. He spent a majority of my sessions talking about things I already told him I knew. Dr. Amiss didnt look at me like a person but rather as a subject smirking and lecturing me about the things I told him that hurt me. Its beautiful building but the counselors there could not be more clueless. I would never recommend this place to anyone.
