Rowan Community provides a very clean organized and proficient place for their residents. They show their love through their help in providing a safe place care of residents and their needs. The atmosphere is positive and uplifting and they bring joy and laughter to their residents. Very happy with the Rowan Community and would recommend them to friends and family.

Rowan Community is a great place to work. I worked there last night and the nurse and his CNA were so helpful to me.

The reason I am giving Rowan Community a 5-star review is because they care. The staff care about the well-being of their patients and several of the staff members are long time employees. We have 2 children at the facility that are suffering from a terrible neurological disease. They will never recover and Rowan Community is their home. The staff treat them as such and take care of them like they are their own. You cant put a price tag or a star rating on that. If something were to happen to my wife or myself we know that they would be taking care of.With that said it is an older building and has a lot of the issues that come with an older building. They unfortunately are dealing with staff shortages much like every other business these days but they are doing the best they can. Everyone pitches in to help. It is all hands-on deck when it comes to meal service and they do the best they can. We are very involved with the care of our kids and you will find my wife there at least 3 times a week. Unfortunately several of the residents have been forgotten by their family members and they expect the staff to just handle their needs. If you are looking for a state-of-the-art facility Rowan probably isnt that. If you are looking for people who care Rowan is the place.

Honestly this is one of those situations where if I could take stars away from them or give negative stars I would My father was brought to Rowan after a back surgery for rehab because it was affiliated with the VA. They seemed to be highly rated but this is the biggest nightmare of a care facility Ive ever experienced in my life. This is the hell you send your loved ones to when they are dying Before I even got there my dad was texting us non-stop to come save him. He did not get breakfast because his dinner the night before was practically inedible. He begged us to bring him outside food. Upon walking in you are immediately hit with a smell of a mixture of morgue and mold-riddled cafe. Then you see the paint decor and bedding is all from the 1970s and 1980s. The beds spring boards and the mattresses are foam not memory foam regular camping mat foam. The beds at the hospital were more comfortable. The staff seemed mostly nice but the Director of Nursing seemed to find us audacious for saying that the beds were not adequate. Dad was complaining of pain three times more in these beds than he did at the hospital before his surgery. I asked her how old the beds were and she answered with They are perfectly functional Whats wrong with them Thats not what I asked. The more I sat with my dad the more triggered I got by the sounds and smells. It sounds like an insane asylum. Doors being slammed every 30 seconds equipment knocking and slamming staff yelling at each other across the halls patients melting down etc. There is no AC in the individual rooms. The PT center can only handle one patient at a time and with as many patients as they had Im not sure how often they could have gotten around to my dads care. As I walked to different places in the facility I was hit with what smells like feces and rotten menstrual pads. Then I had to get on the floor because my dad dropped his hearing aid battery and the floor was sticky. There were no chairs for visitors or patients to sit on. We sat on the unoccupied bed in the room and our backs started hurting as well.

The staff at the place was amazing. It was a hard thing to see my father like that but the staff made it worth it and we are so happy that they are who we entrusted for his care.

For reference I stayed here for a little over 40 days. I namely was there trying to walk again using wheelchairs walkers etc.PROSPhysical therapy and occupational therapy is generally superb. They care about your progress theyve proper equipment on hand to help and even the nurses looking after the exercise area while PTOTs are gone are quite helpful.Nurses handling the patients are friendly and pretty on point about getting you the meds youre scheduled or changing dressings. You can eat in your room instead of out in the dining room which is much more comfortable for a patient with all their bearings about them because most of the dining room is people screaming getting help being fed or general insanity.CONSUnderstaffed CNAs is the main issues as I understand it. Ask a nurse for a shower you might not get it from the CNAs that day because they were busyforgot. Hit the call light in your room and youll wait an average of 8 minutes so hopefully you didnt fall and hurt yourself and search for the call light. I understand why they dont respond to all calls quickly as my roommate would literally yell for help when he needed the TV turned on or his pants changed. This response time via a call-light is a definite worry as someone who observes this place operate and luckily isnt in danger on a regular basis.Food is pretty tasteless and you get 2 choices a day or you can eat one of the everyday things which is basically a salad or a burger. The CNAs delivering and checking what I want to eat do not understand what Lactose Intolerance means either from language barrier or undertrained personnel. They bring soy milk because my menu specifically says no milk but Ill still get cheese on my tacos spaghetti etc or a boston creme pie for dessert because they dont understand thats inedible too.Older building so the heat is pretty negligible. Its 40 outside Its 50 inside. Luckily they provide a lot of blankets if you need it. I cant fathom how hot it might get in the summer months.Lastly this issue is still being handled but its a non smoking facility. Though even if you possess a lighter or cigarettes they will be confiscated without regard for the fact that their policy says nothing about possession. So be wary there and aware that even if you walk a few blocks away youre still in danger of losing your stuff.
