Therapeutic Links is an Occupational Therapist owned private practice since 2002.
Our staff of extremely knowledgeable therapists is dedicated in helping children and their families improve everyday functioning. We utilize meaningful occupations, evidence-based practice, as well as engaged relationships as a vehicle towards progress and success. Two of my kids go to Therapeutic Links for OT and I cannot shout their praises enough We have been seeing so many small changes in our kids that greatly affect their quality of life. For example my 3yr old has been terrified of swingsswinging since she was just a baby. She has been working to over come this fear and the discomfort of movement with her therapist Laura. She now loves to swing and is so incredibly proud of herself that it has boosted her confidence to conquer other sensory issues she struggles with. Not to mention we have seen a huge reduction of tantrums My 8yr old has been working with Sarah for a short time and already we are seeing improvements with little things that go a long way- like she refused to wear socks because of how they felt. She is now able to tolerate socks and other things on her feet which is huge for her All around Ive seen tremendous growth in my kids thanks to Therapeutic Links. Their Bravery Confidence continue to soar. Laura Sarah the entire team at Therapeutic Links hold a special place in our familys heart. I highly highly recommend them

My daughter has been attending Therapeutic Links with different styles and forms of therapy for six years and counting. Their staff is adaptive and open to any way that helps our daughter who has quadriplegic CP and is wheelchair bound during therapy. They go above and beyond and I highly recommend them.

This place is amazing Ms. Sarah has such a special talent working with kids. She truly has the patience and loving hard to do what she does. We have seen such growth with our son since he has started with her. He enjoys coming to therapy and working with her. Her lessons are well planned out and appropriate for his age level. Therapeutic Links is one of the best occupational therapy clinics in the northwest suburbs of Chicago and most likely one of the best pediatric therapy clinics in the state of Illinois.As a volunteer I have observed over 50 hours of therapy at Therapeutic Links. Each time I attend I am impressed with the highly experienced and well trained therapists that work collaboratively together to achieve their clients therapy goals. The clients make evident improvements upon occupational performance and maintain regulation through individualized MNRI or bodywork.Since I have observed at nine various occupational therapy service providers the quality of services provided at Therapeutic Links is far above most others. It has been a privilege to help out a clinic that makes such a positive impact on so many families in need of this type of support.

Frequently Asked Questions
“Early Intervention” might be the provider’s way of describing services that they provide to babies or young children. However, it might also indicate that the provider is a vendor for your state’s publicly funded program. This means the services with this provider might be covered by your state!
The first step in accessing these free services from your state is to get an evaluation. The evaluation will help the state determine what services your child qualifies for, if any. You can find your state’s local EI program by clicking here.
When you contact your local center, say “I have concerns about my child’s development and I would like to have my child evaluated to find out if they are eligible for early intervention services.” They will ask screening questions and arrange for an evaluation, which is provided for free.
The occupational therapy process includes an OT evaluation before care starts. Here are the four steps your family can expect when starting occupational therapy:
Complete OT evaluation. An occupational therapist first identifies your child’s strengths and needs through a thorough OT evaluation, also known as an OT assessment or screening. You’ll answer questions about your child’s skills, and your child will most likely demonstrate their skills via hands-on activities with the therapist. Evaluations can last 30 minutes to a few hours.
Approve OT plan. The therapist develops a care plan with individualized goals and customized interventions based on your child’s needs. You can also share any specific goals or concerns before approving the OT plan.
Start therapy sessions. The therapist works directly with your child and your family, using various strategies and exercises to systematically improve areas of limitations and to build upon a child’s strengths. Some exercises your child might participate in are animal walks, obstacle courses, and therapy swing activities. Your family may learn strategies for supporting your child’s individualized needs at home, such as ways of supporting emotional regulation and sensory processing. The therapist may also recommend tools and techniques to use at home, in the community, or in the classroom to help your child succeed.
Monitor your child’s progress. Parents and caregivers can expect ongoing progress monitoring and communication to ensure the child is achieving their short and long-term goals.
Occupational therapy can also be provided virtually via telemedicine. Virtual therapy is a great option for families in rural areas who may not have access to in-person services, or for families who prefer to have therapy in their child’s home.
Virtual OT allows the opportunity for increased caregiver participation and understanding of a child’s strengths, areas of improvement, and generalization of skills in the child’s home environment. Virtual therapy also provides increased opportunities for caregiver and family education to support the child and the family based on each family’s needs.
The price of swim lessons can vary depending on where you live and what sort of program you decide to enroll your child in. A group lesson at a public pool may cost as little as $10 per lesson while a one-on-one lesson at a private pool may cost upwards of $100 per lesson.
Community centers often offer discounts to local residents, and most YMCAs offer sliding-scale fees based on your family’s household income. If you have more than one child, many swim programs offer discounts for enrolling siblings together.
