About The Therapeutic Educational Institute (TTEI)
The Therapeutic Educational Institute (TTEI) focuses on Advocacy, Equality and Equity. TTEI is an Educational Therapy private practice. I offer a variety of services to clients that have been identified, as having learning differences, or those with special needs. My goal is to assist my clients, with meeting their educational and personal goals. I serve both children and adults, in the Los Angeles, San Gabriel Valley and Inland Empire areas. I also provide in-person and online services.

Aisha is the founder and director of The Therapeutic Educational Institute (TTEI). She has been working in the field of Education since 1995. During her career, she has worked as an Academic Instructor, Educational Support Specialist, Educational Advisor, Resource Specialist, Counselor, Case Manager, Qualified Mental Retardation Professional, Educational Therapist and Advocate. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Ethnic Studies, in 2004 from California State University, Fullerton. In 2010, she attainted her Masters of Arts in Teaching, from National University. Additionally, she holds a clear California Teaching Credential in Adult Education, from the University of San Diego and a certificate in Educational Therapy, which she earned in 2018, from the University California Riverside.
Alongside to her academic accomplishments, she is a published Author, Public Speaker and Consultant. Personally, Aisha has three younger siblings, with Autism. This has not only given her insight into the lives of those with special needs, but it has been the motivation behind the work she does. Ms. Duncan currently works as the Educational Therapist, serving school-aged children at the Pasadena Waldorf School in Altadena, California.

There isn’t one set way that an IEP meeting is run, but generally it involves everyone on the IEP team reviewing your child’s goals, progress, and sharing ideas and suggestions on what supports or accommodations may be helpful to accomplish those goals.
It’s required that the school staff go over every section of the IEP with you and explain every part. This is only a draft, because the IEP may change based on what’s discussed in the meeting. You do not have to sign or agree to the IEP at the IEP meeting. If you don’t like the IEP, you may not have to agree to it at all.
