The Center for Accord

The Center for Accord is an educational organization serving school personnel and parents working together in special education. The services of The Center are designed to help school and parent teams learn how to 'assemble' the contributions of all team members, and to integrate them into an optimal and mutually acceptable whole for the benefit of all involved and for the children for whom they meet. Towards this end, the Center provides practical training to school personnel and parents in how to collaborate more effectively in the IEP environment, and in how parents can collaborate more effectively with each other in better meeting the needs of their children.;School-related services include the design and implementation of specialized training in such areas as collaboration and team building, negotiation and consensus building, facilitation techniques, conflict prevention and resolution, and effective meeting management. Programs can be tailored as required and submitted for approval by endorsing agencies when necessary.;Parent training programs are usually sponsored by individual school districts, education service centers, or cooperatives and by parent support groups and resource centers.
