About The Arc of Colorado

The Arc of Colorado was founded in 1954 and at the time, little was known about the condition of intellectual disability or its causes; there were virtually no programs or activities in communities to assist in the development and care of children and adults with intellectual disability and/or to help support families. In the early days, we worked to change the public’s perception of children with intellectual disability and to educate parents and others regarding the potential of people with intellectual disability. The Arc of Colorado has worked for decades to obtain services for children and adults who were denied day care, preschool, education, and employment programs.

I have went to the Arc store here in Colorado springs for years nowI always round up for the disabled because my own child is disabled. I went to the Arc yesterday Tuesday 420and I am extremely upset with the way my child and I were treated. My daughter is hearing disabled and the Governors rules say she does not need to wear a maskmy daughter and I were chased after through the store and very loudly being yelled at about her wearing a mask. She has a hard time with the mask and not being able to hear.I disagree on how this was handled and Im tired of being treated like this over a piece of cloth over the face. She has had surgery on her ear and the mask hurts her earssince the Arc is suppose to support the disabled I would expect better handling of this situation.
