About The Arc Eastern Connecticut

The Arc Eastern Connecticut is a non-profit organization founded in 1952 by families in both northeastern and southeastern Connecticut who sought opportunities for their children who at the time were not welcome in the public school system. Today The Arc serves over 800 people of all ages and offers advocacy, employment opportunities, in-home supports, life skills training, recreation, supported residences, and person-centered, community based services. In partnership with national, state, and local chapters, we are a powerful advocacy force for full inclusion of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities throughout Eastern Connecticut.

Honestly never write negative reviews but my boyfriend worked here for 5 years and the amount of unlawful termination of employees including people with challenges and severe neglect for the clients was profound. Every single day was a story about incompetent managers and the abuse of clients. Ive heard from many current employees that the office has gone stale and lifeless or hostile and the head managers hire newbies with no experience so that no one ever can replace them even though they literally dont know what they are doing and cannot perform even basic IT or care for individuals. When they lost my boyfriend who was an IT worker for over 5 years they struggled to find a replacement for months and had a higher turn over rate than ever. Please do not invest in a program that exploits its own workers or employees especially a nonprofit social services organization Truly pitiful

Arc has a bad habit of wrongfully terminating employees one for being disabled one for being pregnant two others wrongfully terminated due to no written or verbal policy . Always file for unemployment submit a complaint to the department of labor sue for wrongful termination in smalls claims court. Go to ct.gov and look up judicial branch .Their unlawful behavior should not go unpunishedFight for your rights

I worked for the ARC for 3 years and the amount of abuse and neglect that they let happen is not ok. Instead of handling it they just let it slide by and punish the person who reports the abuse and neglect. It is not a good place for anybody.
