Introduction

Hello! I'm Tanisha Poitevien, M.S., CCC-SLP, a licensed and ASHA-certified Speech-Language Pathologist passionate about helping individuals communicate confidently and effectively. I have experience working with children and adults across home health, clinical, educational, and medically complex settings. My areas of focus include speech and language development, social communication, and pediatric feeding difficulties. I believe therapy should be individualized, engaging, and centered around each client's unique strengths and needs. My goal is to create a supportive environment where clients and families feel empowered, understood, and confident throughout their therapeutic journey.

What words would you use to describe yourself?

Compassionate
Dedicated
Adaptable

I chose compassionate, dedicated, and adaptable because these qualities shape how I approach every client and family I serve. Compassion allows me to understand each individual's challenges while creating a welcoming and supportive therapeutic environment. Dedication drives me to provide meaningful, evidence-based interventions that promote functional progress and long-term success. Adaptability is essential because no two clients learn, communicate, or respond to therapy in exactly the same way. I take pride in modifying my approach to meet individual needs, celebrating small victories, and building trusting relationships that encourage confidence, independence, and growth.

Who are you best positioned to serve?

I am best positioned to serve children and adults experiencing speech, language, and functional communication difficulties. I have extensive hands-on experience supporting pediatric clients with autism spectrum disorder, developmental delays, receptive and expressive language disorders, articulation difficulties, and social communication challenges. I also work with children experiencing feeding difficulties, including food selectivity, oral-motor challenges, and sensory-related feeding concerns. My experience across medically complex, home health, and educational settings allows me to provide individualized care for clients with diverse needs. I especially enjoy collaborating with families to develop practical strategies that support meaningful progress beyond therapy sessions.
