SwimLabs has been our familys swim lesson destination for years. The coaches and staff are very kind and accommodating. Our eldest started private lessons with coach Josh and coach Havana. They both helped him progress well in a short period of time. Our youngest is now with coach Josh who helped him transition from beginner to intermediate. Coach Josh is very patient. He understands the students needs and tailors the lessons accordingly. Our youngest one also has private lessons with coach Kim for the past few months. She has been instrumental in getting him to relax and feel comfortable in the water. She makes the lessons fun and encourages him when he gets the strokeskicks right.I would highly recommend coach Josh coach Havana and coach Kim for their dedication and commitment in teaching kids how to swim.
We love coach Tori and the Swimlabs team They are so friendly and accommodating with schedule changes and make up classes. Tori is amazing So kind playful and effective at disciplining my 3 year old son about safety he can be a handful He loves coming to swim lessons here And the play area is great so many fun toys that Ollie looks forward to playing with every time And I appreciate the complimentary coffee station they provide as well. Thanks to the whole team for brightening our days
Coach Tori is amazing Weve tried several swim schools and styles and Swim Labs has been far and away the most effective. Noticeable progress in just a few lessons and fun too Coaches keep kids engaged and happy while teaching important water safety skills and swimming techniques.
We have had great experiences at SwimLabs Encinitas. Coach Tori and Coach Kim have been incredibly kind and helpful in teaching our kiddos to swim and gain confidence in the water. The coaches are knowledgeable patient and fun. And super supportive of kids and parents as we build swim skill and safety foundations.
Coach Tori helped my little girls 7 and 4 overcome their fear of swimming. In just 3 lessons she helped them gain their confidence and they even went up a level Im so grateful for her efforts. She also has a calming and patient energy that is definitely gold Many thanks 1010 recommend her
We love swim labs My daughter has been going since 18 months and she is 4 now. Shes learned how to swim. Kicks strokes and the 9 yards. She loves swimming. Cant get her out of the pool. We have couch Tori She is awesome. She really thorough and playful teaching. Love it. They are very accommodating with scheduling and letting us know when our coach is going to be gone and who will be the replacement. Definitely recommend this place.
This has been a wonderful experience for Casper. He was a non-swimmer afraid of the water when he started. Now he loves to swim and is making great progress with Coach Kim. She is so patient and enthusiastic. All of the staff at SwimLabs are friendly and supportive...great place to go with children. Thank you -
Coach Josh is amazing He works patiently with my daughter who is extremely paranoid of getting in the pool and he has helped us make significant progress. He is consistent and allows my daughter to develop a sense of trust. Thank you coach Josh
My six year old has been swimming here for over a year and went through group lessons private lessons and camp. I especially love the swimming camp and try to enroll my son when schedule works. I see him improving the fastest in camp during which you attend the class 45 mins a day and for a consecutive 4 days.We are incredibly pleased with the swim instructors at this facility. Their expertise and patience have fostered significant progress in my sons swimming skills. The personalized attention and encouragement create a positive learning environment. Coach Tori and coach Josh are both wonderful teachers and I can see my sons skills improving fast while having fun exercising. They are patient loving fun and the kids learn. The facility is so clean. I see Josh and Tori clean the facility all the time when they are not teaching. I also love the app so I can cancel class and reschedule at my convenience. Kayla is very helpful with class scheduling and great to communicate with.In addition the indoor swimming facility is top-notch providing a comfortable and safe space for aquatic activities. It is equipped with high tech cameras which are great to reflect on your skills. I see young athletes coming to improve their skills often. It is a great facility for baby with parents beginners and all the way to young athletes. I can see my son swim here for a very long time.Overall we appreciate the dedication to both instruction and maintaining an excellent facility for a rewarding swim experience.
Coach Kim is awesome Super supportive and encouraging really great at helping kids be brave and try new things. Both of our kids 3 6 love her and look forward to seeing her every week

Autism-friendly camps come in all shapes and sizes, making it easier for you to find the one that best suits your needs. An autism-friendly camp may come in the form of a day camp, meaning you drop your child off in the morning and pick them up later that afternoon, or as an overnight camp. The camp programs can range in length from a few days to a few weeks. The campers that attend autism-friendly camps may be autistic only or a mixture of neurotypical and neurodivergent kids. When it comes to support for your child, some camps offer 1:1 support while others have a higher camper-to-counselor ratio.
When choosing the perfect camp for your child there are five key things you should keep in mind:
- Interests: What does your child like to do? A sports camp probably wouldn’t be a good fit for your little bookworm. Finding the right summer camp that sparks your child’s excitement will aid in transitioning to and from camp, while also ensuring they enjoy their experience.
- Professional Support: How much support does your child need? A traveling camp may not be best for your child who tends to elope. Some camps offer 1:1 support for your child, while others may have a higher camper-to-counselor ratio. When looking for a camp, pay close attention to those ratios to ensure there is adequate support for your child’s unique needs.
- Specializations: Does the camp specialize in a specific area? If your child is nonverbal and the camp has excellent experience working with nonverbal children, it may be the perfect fit!
- Responsiveness and Accommodations: Pay special attention to camps that meet with you one-on-one either by phone, video chat, or in person, to mark out a personalized support plan for your child. You can relax knowing they’re on top of things and making sure your child is properly supported. Don’t be afraid to ask tons of questions —a great camp will welcome them!
- Location and Commitment: Not many people like a long commute. You know your child’s comfort level better than anyone else, so you’ll know what’s best for them, whether it’s a half-day camp, a full day, or an overnight experience.
Here are just a few of the benefits of summer camp for autistic children:
Fostering Social Skills: Summer camp is an excellent opportunity for your child to learn about different social scenarios they may face as they grow up and provide them first-hand experience in how to approach those situations in a safe and supportive environment.
Maintaining Mental Stimulation: With school out during the summer months, a child with autism may be missing out on many of the core structures inherently provided by the classroom and their classmates. No matter what sort of camp you choose or your child’s unique needs and interests, summer camp is a great way to keep your child mentally stimulated and challenged.
Friendship: Depending on the camp size, campers are often divided into smaller groups defined by age, interests, gender, and/or needs. These groups not only give your child the opportunity to closely identify with a group that they belong to but provide them an opportunity to learn how to make friends.
Independence and Confidence: Possibly the greatest benefit of summer camp for your child is the independence they gain. While the counselors are there for support and guidance, kids will have their own responsibilities and choices to make while at camp. Your child will be doing activities independently and actively learning what they like and don’t like. Having these sorts of experiences can boost a child’s self-confidence and nurture your child’s natural curiosity about the world.
The price of swim lessons can vary depending on where you live and what sort of program you decide to enroll your child in. A group lesson at a public pool may cost as little as $10 per lesson while a one-on-one lesson at a private pool may cost upwards of $100 per lesson.
Community centers often offer discounts to local residents, and most YMCAs offer sliding-scale fees based on your family’s household income. If you have more than one child, many swim programs offer discounts for enrolling siblings together.
