About Spotted Rabbit Creative Arts Therapy - Amsterdam, NY
Spotted Rabbit Creative Arts Therapy is a group of licensed art therapists offering psychotherapy and therapeutically minded classes for youth ages 5+ and adults of all abilities. We believe that visual art making offers expanded ways to communicate with others, as well as opportunities to socialize and build other soft skills such as problem solving, frustration tolerance, and improved quality of life. Spotted Rabbit therapists offer personalized 1:1 weekly or every other week sessions with a focus on each clients personal strengths and interests. As a fully functioning art studio we utilize a wide range of art materials such as drawing & painting, ceramics, wood working, fiber arts, mixed media, cosplay, and more. As therapists we have the skills to empower clients to live their best lives.
Spotted Rabbit has locations in Brighton, NY and Pittsford, NY. We direct bill OPWDD self-direction plans in addition to being in-network with Cigna and MVP commercial plans. Sliding scale rates are also an option.

Founding Story
Prior to becoming an art therapist, Sarah worked extensively with I/DD populations in a wide variety of services for many years and began to notice that when provided with adequate personalized attention and care, many of these individuals thrived in ways others didn't think they could. Unfortunately, existing services weren't able to regularly provide the quality support that these individuals deserve. When Sarah started Spotted Rabbit she wanted to offer something different, something that celebrated each individual's strengths rather than forcing them into the stereotyped boxes society made for them. In the early years our primary service was the Apprenticeship Program, a partial day program where individuals came together to create works of art which they then sold and exhibited in the community, earning monthly pay as they did so. Unfortunately Covid happened and in order to stay in business, the studio began focusing on serving individual clients. While we no longer offer group programing, we maintain our original mission to provide individuals with I/DD and/or mental health concerns with a creative voice through our individual art therapy sessions and classes.
