We started our journey with Spectrum two summers ago. Christine the ceo guided us through the process and was extremely kind. We had found a private school who was willing to open their arms and create a relationship with Spectrum. We had an initial meeting with the school and Christine and from there everything seemed to fall into place. We had an amazing team that consisted of BCBA supervisors asst supervisors behavior therapists and behavior therapist liaisons who support the therapist and brings in a fresh eye to the behaviors. The supervisors would set up and update goals every month that were challenging but realistic for my son. They worked with not only the parents but also the school teachers and principal. They even have sessions to help us understand what ABA really is and the different methods applied. They work hard to create an open communication and collaboration with everyone in my sons life. And the BTs behavior therapist are just AMAZING. They are extremely professional patient and above all Loving. After spending time with them and seeing their interaction with my son I can see the passion they have to help him achieve goals. They create a bond and are genuinely happy to work with him. They are all amazing working to not only help my son master his goals but they also have amazing relationship with my sons teacher and his classmates. They help him in classrooms give him additional support facilitate play with his peers etc.Spectrum is not a big company or a small company. They do not focus on quantity of clients but the quality of support they provide for the families. To add we just had a meeting with the school and the supervisors to update his progress. As a parent the feelings that come before the meetings are sometimes dreadful. Sometimes we fear the ever increasing gap between my son and his neurotypical peers. We fear if he will ever catch up. We fear if he will be bullied or cast aside for being autistic and weird. But I am pleased to say that my dread was washed away and I cried ugly tears during the meeting. The supervisors were extremely professional with the goals and the updates they provided for the teacher was so surprisingly detailed. The principal was also stating that they made all this possible because they knew what they were doing. They have cultivated a relationship an open relationship and a true collaboration.
My child has been with Spectrum for about two years. We are very lucky and fortunate to have selected this ABA company out of many other companies to help our child learn and grow everyday. Scheduling with Anna and team is very convenient because you can either text or email them and theyll respond in a timely manner. Big shout out to Samantha Kim J Dalena Kim T Melody Yiming Kelsey Cynthia Elizabeth and Ashley. They have been nothing but exceptional in our childs case. Very professional kind and great human beings. I could tell that they really care about what theyre doing. They set goals and help our child meet them. I have no complaints because I have seen the progress our child has made from potty training to learning how to talk monthly clinic meetings and the parent training have really helped us as parents. All of the people that I have mentioned above are an important asset to this company and if youre looking for an ABA company I wouldnt look elsewhere.
Weve used Spectrum now for over 3 yrs and thanks to their efforts our now 7 yr old daughter has made tremendous progress. They are well staffed with really good people that are professional and effective. It is also easy to reach them and easily communicate with their supervisorsadministrative staff.
SBT has been the only behavioral therapists that has worked with my son and Im so happy that I chose them first. He has been with them for nearly 3 years and the progress that he has made has been tremendous. He has learned to speak in full sentences ask us for something when he wants it listens to directions sustaining attention and so much more.At SBT not only do they ask you what goals you want for your child but they also come up with goals that they think your child should learn. Educational goals life skill goals social goals any goals that you can think of they will come up with a plan together with you to achieve those goals. Not only do they care about your childs progress they also care about the parents as well. They constantly make sure to answer any questions or concerns you may have and they will try their best to fit all the sessions into your schedule. If your looking for a behavioral therapists that can teach your child anything I highly recommend SBT
My child has autism and ADHD and was previously in a Special Day Class at a public school. During his 3rd-grade IEP meeting I requested a 1-on-1 aide so he could attend some academic subjects in a general education class where he wouldnt have difficulty. However the school denied my request and the general education teacher responded by asking me What would be good for you to send him to a general class I was shocked by this response and realized that I couldnt send my son to a school with that kind of attitude.I found a private school that was willing to accept him but they required an ABA therapist to be with him during school hours. The parent who recommended this school spoke very highly of the ABA therapy center her son attended. Thats how I found Spectrum Behavioral Therapy and began services with them. At the same time my son started attending his new school with the support of behavioral therapists. From the very beginning we met an amazing team. Andrew was the teams supervisor and the therapistsAlyssa Gia Kenneth and Jessicaworked so incredibly hard to help my son adjust to school and succeed. I cannot thank them enough for their dedication. We had experience with another ABA therapy center before but I can confidently say that Spectrum Behavioral Therapy is on a completely different level. They go above and beyond expectations. They notice things I dont see suggest solutions before I even realize theres an issue and genuinely care about my child with such warmth and dedication.Transitioning from a Special Day Class in a public school to a general education setting in a private school was a huge challenge. The first year which started in the second semester of 3rd grade was especially tough for my son. Everything was new and he struggled to adjust. He had frequent tantrums and at one point the school suggested homeschooling for a few weeks. We tried a hybrid scheduletwo days at school and three days at homeuntil he was ready to attend more regularly.Andrew along with his team of BTs worked closely with us throughout the remainder of 3rd grade and summer break to create a solid plan for 4th grade. Thanks to their dedication and support when 4th grade started my son was able to attend school full-time. Of course there are still some challenging days but he is doing unbelievably well and continues to improve every single day.His team evolves as he progresses. Once he accomplishes certain goals they set new ones to help him continue growing. His current teamAndrew Janet Patrick Carolina Jennifer and Jessicaworks tirelessly to support him and I am beyond grateful for all they do.I hope my experience can help other parents who are looking for the best for their children. We all want to give our kids the support they need and Spectrum Behavioral Therapy has truly made a difference in my sons life.
We started with Spectrum last year when our nugget had to be removed from his daycare due to aggression. With not an aggressive bone in our bodies we had not the slightest idea how to address the problem but we wanted him to be in a place that he could start kindergarten in August.Getting him started with Spectrum was easy and quick since he already had his autism diagnosis. They asked a ton of questions to make sure they were addressing every concern we had and doing it in a way we were comfortable with. They wanted to know him and immediately saw him for the bright funny guy he is. Ive never felt like he was too much when hes there. He has so much fun and never wants to leave.Im elated to say that in less than 6 months the aggression was gone at home and we are now struggling to think of things to work on Hes using his words effectively and keeping his emotions regulated. Hes learned to play games and not get upset if he loses. Hes learned to sit for longer periods of time to do table work and in turn has started reading and writing at a new level. Hes even showing empathy and compassion for others which I never thought would be in the cards. He is beyond ready for kindergarten. I cannot thank them enough for helping us peel back the obstacles to reach our amazing kid underneath.

My experience with Spectrum has been anything but positive. I am writing this review as I tears are rolling down my face. Christine the owner and Sam the clinical director has been on this journey with my son Dakota who was non verbal since he was 5. And when he started talking I fell in love with my son all over again. Dakota is now 11 and he wont stop talking. I cant thank them enough. Now he has the language they are currently teaching him to use it age appropriately. Thank you Spectrum for finding a voice for my son. I cant say enough good things about this company but they are simply the best.
Ive been wanting to write this review for quite some time and have finally made time to do soMy 19 years old autistic son K has been receiving ABA therapies from this company for about 2 years by now and he has been making tremendous progress even at his adult age A Thousand thanks to Christine Ashely Kelsey Dalena and Mike - amazing BCBAs therapistsK had received ABA therapies from a few different companies for past 14 years. At the previous company I was told that K wouldnt be making much progress anymore due to his age. back then age 17 However providing K with exceptionally high quality ABA therapies professionally developed by their BCBAs and implemented by well trained therapists Spectrum Behavioral Therapies proved that the other companys opinion was WRONG. My son K has been making really good progress continually and learning life- changing skills for his independence. As a very experienced parent with ABA therapies after going through a few different companies I strongly recommend this company Spectrum Behavioral Therapies to parents who are looking for the BEST ABA therapies for their any age children on the spectrum.
Frequently Asked Questions
Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is a therapy rooted in the science of learning and behavior. Using principles of ABA, children and adults can learn to improve their communication skills, social skills, and daily living skills while also addressing problematic or challenging behaviors. The primary goal of ABA therapy is to teach helpful skills that promote independence and reduce harmful behaviors. Here's our complete guide to everything you need to know about ABA therapy.
It's a big decision to make for your family! Applied behavior analysis (ABA) seeks to improve communication skills, introduce productive habits, and reduce harmful behaviors. Watch out for ABA providers who look to "cure" autism.
High quality ABA therapy does exist where the goal is not to “fix” children, make them appear “less autistic”, or change who they are. The goal is to help people learn all that they can so they can live to their potential while embracing their unique, individual personality traits. Here's our complete guide to start and end ABA therapy.
ABA is usually covered by insurance if you have an autism diagnosis. Autism is typically the only diagnosis insurance will authorize for ABA services since its benefits have been researched extensively.
Always check with your specific insurance plan to confirm that ABA is covered for your child’s diagnoses and that the provider you are seeking care at is in-network. Here's our complete guide to everything you need to know about ABA therapy.
“Early Intervention” might be the provider’s way of describing services that they provide to babies or young children. However, it might also indicate that the provider is a vendor for your state’s publicly funded program. This means the services with this provider might be covered by your state!
The first step in accessing these free services from your state is to get an evaluation. The evaluation will help the state determine what services your child qualifies for, if any. You can find your state’s local EI program by clicking here.
When you contact your local center, say “I have concerns about my child’s development and I would like to have my child evaluated to find out if they are eligible for early intervention services.” They will ask screening questions and arrange for an evaluation, which is provided for free.
This happens. The results of the school’s evaluation may be different than your child’s medical diagnosis. It’s also important to remember that school is NOT the final say on your child’s potential. They may offer very little support to your child, underestimate their abilities, or disagree with you on what support your child needs. You will probably need to advocate for the services and support you believe your child needs.
Here are a few alternative options to consider:
- Cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT): CBT helps by identifying and changing unhelpful thoughts and behaviors. It's useful for those dealing with social anxiety or difficulties. CBT addresses cognitive patterns and provides strategies to manage social challenges.
- Group therapy: Group therapy offers a supportive space where individuals can practice social skills. They can feedback from peers and a therapist. It allows interaction with others who understand and learn from each other.
- Play-based interventions: Play therapy or play-based interventions work well for younger children or those who learn through experiences. Play activities target specific social skills like turn-taking and problem-solving in a safe and engaging setting.
Even if a provider offers parent training, it may look different from one provider to another. For example, an in-home provider might conduct a parent training session directly following a therapy session with your child to help explain what they’ve been working on with your child. At larger organizations, you might have a support group of families who are dealing with similar issues.
