I love Skilled Therapy and Play. My son worked with Lauren. She is amazing. This facility is clean. My son has had a ton of OT and Speech. I am beyond impressed by the summary of activities accomplished each week. His therapist is skilled knowledgeable and comprehensive. She shares all of the activities that they do together his progress on activities as well as observations of his behaviors. Very grateful and only wish I found this place soonerThank you
Excellent care for your childs needs We cross a bridge to come here at it is WORTH it I was looking for OT for my child and it has been very difficult to find a company. Skilled Therapy Play Services allows us access to in-person services personalized treatment plans and so much practical home adviceThey also have ABA services I cant express how much my child has improved with the addition of OT and I highly recommend their company to any family looking for services for their child.
We have had a wonderful experience with Laurie. She is super friendly and really cares about the progress my son makes.
My 6-year-old son attended Skilled Therapy Play Services for several months. Aimee his therapist was fabulous highly skilled professional and great...
We worked with STPS for our neurodiverse childs OT and BT needs. Erins philosophy around addressing sensory needs as the foundation for other developmental progress really resonated with us. Both the therapists that our child worked with were extremely adept at building a successful relationship with him. They worked closely with us on his goals and we had entire visibility into how they worked with him. The parent coaching sessions were incredibly useful for us as parents to build up our knowledge around how to support our childs needs. Its because of his BCBA that we learned how to advocate for our son. Erin and her team are doing such a phenomenal job with STPS and weve never once had to ask twice to enlist their help with anything -- be it additional services changes in schedules working with insurance etc. We had to relocate unfortunately and we dearly miss having STPS as part of our childs support team. If youre looking for a facility that puts the child first believes in sensory regulation as a fundamental need and is delightful to work with this is the place for you

I rarely write reviews but I would be remiss if I did not do one for Skilled Therapy Play Services. When the owner Erin found me almost a year ago we were in a low and confusing place with little support for our child and some scary messaging from the schools. I posted in one of the babysitter apps for help at home and briefly described my LO and Erin reached out to me and explained occupational therapy and how it might benefit my child. Erin started working with us in so many more ways than just improving his balance and coordination. She helped me learn about the sensory needs that my child has and exactly how I can get ahead of potential challenges by giving him a chance to move his body in certain ways at intervals throughout the day. Our child is now extremely successful in his school environment and we can breathe a sigh of relief. Erin is knowledgeable warm and trustworthy. She was an initial and pivotal part of our care team and we still rely on her to help us navigate new situations. Bethany is professional skilled and extremely capable. She has reliably and warmly worked with our child while remaining a positive and consistent force in his life. I will always be grateful for the services and especially the people at this life-changing place.
Erin is such a thoughtful caring and flexible therapistclinic founder. She always listens to her clients needs and quickly finds solutionsprovides extended services to address those needs. We are very fortunate to find Erin and her team this summer. Bethany is our wonderful OT. She is very detail oriented and bonds with my 4 year old immediately. Like Erin Bethany is a very responsive responsible and trust worthy therapist. I will recommend Erin and her team for sure
Erin is just wonderful. We have been working with her since the summer and I appreciate her warmth energy and professionalism. My kids love her too. And they have made great strides through working with her. We began working with her colleague Aimee recently and my son enjoys working with Aimee and continues to make great progress. I really appreciate how dedicated caring and also thoughtfulrigorous both Erin and Aimee are in their work. They are true professionals.
We are so happy and grateful to meet ErinI was looking for qualified therapist who can come to our home for a year and finally found the bestErin is very flexible knows her field and really feels and understands children. My son is so picky around therapists and with her he felt so comfortable and eager to follow through Truly amazing. We are very lucky to work with Skilled Therapy and get my son on truck
I cant say enough good things about Erin. She has been working with my six- year- old son for just under 6 months and I honestly noticed progress in his development after the first few sessions. Erin has very creative ways to keep my son engaged and excited while he learns new skills. Therapy with Erin is fun for my son Erin is always on time and she brings new ideas to each session. One of the goals that we have worked on is my sons fine motor skills. My son had significant delays with his fine motor skills. He wasnt able to hold a crayon to color and he would throw his utensils on the floor during feeding time. After a few sessions with Erin he stopped throwing his utensils and his self- feeding improved significantly. The other great thing is that now my son feels confident holding a crayon or pencil to do his homework and art activities for school. The other thing that I love is that Erin does home visits. Home visits are perfect for our family because my son is comfortable and we can use a lot of the equipmenttools that I already have. If you are looking for an awesome OT who is punctual professional and great at what she does then you have found the right person. The only problem that I have is that the session seems to go by so fast. Lol. I highly recommend Erin D
Erin is a God-send She has been brilliantly working with my family to support our ADHDanxiety son. Weve seen so much progress in him that are tied directly to the work she is doing with him. Erin is always prompt and communicative and she loves to know more about whats going on so she can implement strategies and practices to help him with his real-life experiences. Shes wonderful and I cant recommend her enough. We are so honored to have her working as part of our sons support system.
Frequently Asked Questions
Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is a therapy rooted in the science of learning and behavior. Using principles of ABA, children and adults can learn to improve their communication skills, social skills, and daily living skills while also addressing problematic or challenging behaviors. The primary goal of ABA therapy is to teach helpful skills that promote independence and reduce harmful behaviors. Here's our complete guide to everything you need to know about ABA therapy.
It's a big decision to make for your family! Applied behavior analysis (ABA) seeks to improve communication skills, introduce productive habits, and reduce harmful behaviors. Watch out for ABA providers who look to "cure" autism.
High quality ABA therapy does exist where the goal is not to “fix” children, make them appear “less autistic”, or change who they are. The goal is to help people learn all that they can so they can live to their potential while embracing their unique, individual personality traits. Here's our complete guide to start and end ABA therapy.
ABA is usually covered by insurance if you have an autism diagnosis. Autism is typically the only diagnosis insurance will authorize for ABA services since its benefits have been researched extensively.
Always check with your specific insurance plan to confirm that ABA is covered for your child’s diagnoses and that the provider you are seeking care at is in-network. Here's our complete guide to everything you need to know about ABA therapy.
The occupational therapy process includes an OT evaluation before care starts. Here are the four steps your family can expect when starting occupational therapy:
- Complete OT evaluation. An occupational therapist first identifies your child’s strengths and needs through a thorough OT evaluation, also known as an OT assessment or screening. You’ll answer questions about your child’s skills, and your child will most likely demonstrate their skills via hands-on activities with the therapist. Evaluations can last 30 minutes to a few hours.
- Approve OT plan. The therapist develops a care plan with individualized goals and customized interventions based on your child’s needs. You can also share any specific goals or concerns before approving the OT plan.
- Start therapy sessions. The therapist works directly with your child and your family, using various strategies and exercises to systematically improve areas of limitations and to build upon a child’s strengths. Some exercises your child might participate in are animal walks, obstacle courses, and therapy swing activities. Your family may learn strategies for supporting your child’s individualized needs at home, such as ways of supporting emotional regulation and sensory processing. The therapist may also recommend tools and techniques to use at home, in the community, or in the classroom to help your child succeed.
- Monitor your child’s progress. Parents and caregivers can expect ongoing progress monitoring and communication to ensure the child is achieving their short and long-term goals.
Occupational therapy can also be provided virtually via telemedicine. Virtual therapy is a great option for families in rural areas who may not have access to in-person services, or for families who prefer to have therapy in their child’s home.
Virtual OT allows the opportunity for increased caregiver participation and understanding of a child’s strengths, areas of improvement, and generalization of skills in the child’s home environment. Virtual therapy also provides increased opportunities for caregiver and family education to support the child and the family based on each family’s needs.
