The JCC East Hills SummerStreeters camp is a very poorly managednegligent camp. The counselors are inexperienced but for the price they charge you would expect better training and diligence from the director and camp management.Kids are almost losing fingers while the counselors are in the room. Kids are bullied and when the director is informed no action is taken. The parents are talked down to for raising their concerns. I am not sure if race is a part of the issue but it seems quite evident.Health protocols are not followed even during covid. Counselors are not trained well enough to recognize children who are sick and they are left unattended all day and not even sent to the director to check if something is wrong.Debra the director is not fit to run the camp. When asked about sickness spreading through the camp she outwardly denied it is happening while children were getting sick. She yells at you like you are crazy for questioning her lies and does not follow-through. She will also blame the counselors when something happens even though she should be monitoring or staying on top of the situation. Children in the camp are not treated equally and even the children themselves can tell the difference.Escalating to the JCC Senior Management is useless. They do not even care to respond. The facilities itself is nice but I would stay away from the camp It is a lawsuit waiting to happen Childrens safety is not the top priority making money is. STAY AWAY if you care about your childs safety and well-being

There is a previous review by a man named Dan below who said the JCC took money from people and then didnt reimburse during the pandemic . I had the same experience . Swimming lessons for my special needs son were prepaid pre-pandemic . When the JCC opened up I reached out to his swim instructor to restart lessons only to be told that they were for members only . I asked to speak to the aquatics director but he told me the director would tell me the same thing so I told him to reach out when it opened back up to people who didnt have membership. No one ever reached out and then when I asked about the lessons I was told they were expired . The JCC prevented me from using them because I wasnt a member and then told me they expired I just want me kid to learn a life saving skill and as a single parent membership is beyond my means . For a place that holds so much charity outreach how about you take care of the vulnerable people in your community first who PAID for a service first

The woman at the fitness desk Jill was extremely rude when I called in to ask a question. I asked if Zumba was outside under the big tent her response was its the only tent with music and people. I replied I was confused by the chairs being in the same tent with people and music. The sarcasm was not needed. Do better.

Do not join JCC specifically Sid Jacobson center in LI as they are refusing to give refundscredits while being closed due to the CV pandemic. They are extorting donations meaning they are keeping funds collected while being closed in exchange for a tax donation letter. If find this criminal on top of the fact that 3 NY JCCs have received Millions in SBA loans. This is just another example of a large company putting their thumb down on the avg Joe. If other organizations are also doing this then they are also unethical.

1 Good people. Working in is expected and reserving equipment with a towel is not.1 Layout is extremely well planned with no wasted space but also no over-crowding.1 Good community. Ive forgotten to lock my locker on a few occasions but never had anything takendisturbed. This is very much a community center and youll feel good vibes if you bring your own too.The childrens programs are excellent. The kitchen is clean and well stocked.1 Staff is friendly experienced and helpful. Facilities are very clean and well maintained. If youre doing something dangerous to yourself or others youll get corrective advice free of charge but you wont be bullied by power-tripping staff.-1 The regular hours of operation is often incorrect on their Google maps profile and getting to their hours on their site via mobile isnt so fun.On several occasions Ive witnessed others u-turning in the lotalong with myself and have been advised to call ahead to double check that theyll be open only useful if you arent an early bird.

Great place for families and individuals for gym pool workout classes and cultural activities. It has a very welcoming vibe and everyone is very friendly. Found out about this place through my neighbor. I never wouldve known about it otherwise. It is very hidden. Its closer than my previous gym so much more convenient to get to. Wish the Friday hours were later but I understand since its a Jewish center. Great workout classes and instructors. Cant wait to try more of them. Def would recommend.

Today i was humilliated infront of a group of my peers by the cruel employees of this establishment. I have been a member here for the greater portion of my existence and today I was turned away for having an expired membership of 20 days. Apparently after 20 days no one recognizes you here as i was asked repeadetly if I was the person on the profile. I pleaded with them to have sympathy for a day and that i would notify my mother who would have gladly renewed but they werent having any of it. The bad morals displayed by this community center today are just one of MANY times they have shown their cold attitudes. My family and I will never be returning as the disrepect I recieved today is unforgivable. The Jcc clearly has no regard for a member of 20 years or a member of 1 day and that to me is not something Id like to be around. Bai

Great place for exercise swimming various cultural prograns and other things. Also opens early and closes late. New pool and showers are tops. Roadwork in the immediate area that lasted for years is finally over. Only drawback thefts in the locker rooms. Be sure to bring a lock and always check before you leave because the user population is not trustworthy despite the nominally religious orientation

I was never a gym type of guy.I used to play team sports. I came here reluctantly because I had had surgery for spinal stenosis and was told I had to walk. It was last December and we had a long icy snowy cold winter. My wife dragged me to the indoor track. What we found was that we belonged to a vibrant community. We try to go to the gym four or five times a week. We worked out with a trainer who ended up saving my wifes life. She detected my wifes melanoma and thus spared my wife from needed chemo and radiation. When we need the support of the Cancer Wellness Center we go. We have met vibrant people and have attended some of the many cultural events this place has to offer. We have brought our grandson to some of the tot events. We feel like we discovered a gem and we hope to remain active members for a long time. Please join us
