Hi, I’m River Steinberg, a pediatric speech-language pathologist based in San Luis Obispo County. I work with children from toddlers to teens, specializing in speech sound disorders, early language development, and orofacial myology. My therapy style is eclectic, evidence-based, and rooted in play, focusing on each child’s strengths. I’m passionate about making speech therapy fun, effective, and empowering for families. If I had to choose three words to describe myself, I’d say energetic, attentive, and knowledgeable. I bring enthusiasm and positivity into every session, which helps keep kids engaged and motivated. I pay close attention to each child’s communication style, strengths, and needs so that therapy feels personalized and meaningful. I’m committed to staying current with evidence-based approaches and continuing education, so families can trust that they’re getting high-quality, informed care. I love what I do and it shows in how I show up for my clients and their families.
Who are you best positioned to serve?
I’m best positioned to serve toddlers, children, and teens who are working on speech sound development, early language skills, or oral motor challenges. My approach is playful, strengths-based, and personalized to fit each child’s goals and personality. I’m especially passionate about helping little ones find their first words and supporting older kids in developing clear, confident speech. While I’m happy to consult with all families, I may not be the best fit for children who use AAC devices, have significant receptive language needs, or require specialized support for complex medical conditions.
