Richard’s philosophy is one of self determination. The process starts with the problem you bring to counseling. If that problem is easily resolved then it is time to get on with your life. If not, further exploration of the problem may be necessary. Richard has been trained in various modalities of treatment. Which is used depends upon the problems that are presented or uncovered. These modalities include EMDR, Cognitive Behavioral, and Solution Focused Therapy. EMDR is an empirically validate I have worked with children and their families, adults, and veterans most of my adult life. This has exposed me to many of the difficulties with life that people experience. We all have periods where life when things are running well and at other times life can become difficult. It is those difficult times when we may need help. Those difficulties that leave us feeling hopeless – powerless can be debilitating. We don’t know what to do. The resources we have used in the past, such as family or friends, don’t seem to help. These may be times when more skilled help is needed. That is where I can help. Taking the time to work on and resolve problems is an investment in yourself. Achieving resolution of the problems that were brought to therapy will free up energy that can be used to enhance your life in your life. This resolution can be from past traumas or problems, current difficulties, or learning better ways to manage life's stressors.
