Positive Change Counseling Center - Rancho Bernardo

The therapist I began to see at Positive Change was helpful and friendly my negative feedback is about the company and their policies and not about her.I saw my therapist twice and then was out of town for a few weeks. My next appointment with her was scheduled for the day after I was supposed to fly back to California. My flight was cancelled the day before and I called Positive Change twice who did not answer the phone left a message and wrote to my therapist in the client portal. Unfortunately my message was received just two hours short of their 24 hour cancellation deadline after which you are charged a 95 late fee. As all the sessions were teletherapy I was still able to attend the appointment online from a quiet corner of the airport but would be traveling back to California. I was denied services given I was not in the state of California and there was no flexibility on the late fee. Alas I never had my third therapy session and had to pay 95 instead of what I would have paid for a session a 20 co-pay. As a student living in California this charge really stung. As an aside my university does not provide long-term student therapy servicesI understand there is some ambiguity in the law regarding seeing a client for therapy when they are out of state but some California therapy providers will still see you when you are out of town given you sought services in and are a resident of California. Be sure to understand when looking for a therapist what their cancellation policies are whether they are flexible with unforeseen circumstances and whether they will talk to you when you are out of state.

I was looking for counseling in San Diego when I encountered Positive Change Counseling. I was intrigued to see the experience of their counselors and therapists and their depth of experience with treating anxiety depression PTSD and trauma among other things. Their staff was very helpful from my first call and they got me in quickly while also taking my insurance. It was very helpful and I continue to enjoy my experience there. If you need a therapist or counselor in San Diego I highly recommend them.

As a professional therapist in the greater San Diego community I seek out organizations like Positive Change Counseling who I know employ highly trained and skilled clinicians. I confidently refer individuals couples children adolescents and families who are seeking highly professional empathic therapists of diverse multi-lingual backgrounds to PCC. It has been my experience from the feedback I receive and from attending meetings and trainings with PCC staff that I can trust those I refer will receive excellent quality care.

To be fair we have not had a single session with Positive Change but that is because their scheduling system is an absolute nightmare. All communication is done over email. If you call you never get a call back only emails. Weve had 2 appointments canceled over paperwork issues that could have easily been resolved if Id had access to someone I could speak with or if theyd followed up with me to make sure they received the necessary paperwork. When I found out that my daughters appointment was canceled today- shes been really needing to speak with a therapist- I immediately contacted another provider and was able to speak to someone immediately confirm coverage and schedule her first appointment without any problems. I do not recommend Positive Change Counseling Center due to their lack of empathy for patients who really need to be seen and their unnecessarily complicated scheduling system.

We see 2 different providers from PCC Center and we have truly benefitted from their services.
