About Pony Power Therapies

Pony Power Therapies was founded by Executive Director Dana Spett in 2000 to provide horse-assisted activities to children and adults with a variety of special needs. A lifelong equestrian, Dana discovered therapeutic horseback riding while researching alternative therapies for one of her daughters with mild special needs.

Its sad that this place is a non profit but only cares about money. We booked a field trip here and they encouraged we book early. So we booked 5 months in advance and when I asked if we could make changes to the roster when we come closer to the date the woman on the phone said that wouldnt be a problem even though on their contract said no cancellations. They also dont want anyone sick attending. We had two children sick morning of with covid symptoms and they still expected us to pay 50. In regards to the earlier cancellations I told them two weeks in advance that we got 3 cancellations. They never said anything said that it was fine and updated the roster. When we get there we were penalized 125 for the ones that had cancelled and the ones that were sick. When I asked why nothing was said to me when I updated the roster they said its not their job to say anything to us. A baby took the place of one of the sisters that canceled and we were still charged. I have made hundreds of field trips and have NEVER been treated like this. Management and the assistant were so awfully rude. Its such a shame because the ranch and the teachers were amazing. We will never go back and we will never recommend this place. A non profit shouldnt be run like this. I run a non profit and this is unacceptable.

The staff were super helpful engaging and gentle with the children and the animals. My 3 years old client enjoyed his sessions and didnt want to leave. Not only do the ride horses they learned to groom the horse planted herbs and beans picked strawberries pinecone bird feeder and painted rocks for the rock garden.

I was scheduled to go on a field trip with my 2 kids with our co op here and was told to fill out a covid questionnairewaiver days before hand. In the questionnairewaiver it stated that if anyone had any symptoms of illness within a certain time frame of your visit you may not attend. I signed the waiver as we were all healthy at that time . The day of the trip my kids had coughs and fevers. Being sick we stayed home only to find out that even though there are no refunds there is also no make ups due to illness. I feel we were penalized for being responsible and keeping our selves home. I understand as a non profit they cant give refunds but to take your money and not offer a make ups is unacceptable. A policy like this could cause sick people to attend anyway because they dont want to waste money. Very dissapointed in this place.

My thoughts about Pony Power are pretty good. I used to go to Pony Power when I was a little boy from 2009-2011. I rode the horses when I had horseback riding lessons on Sunday mornings. The Springboard Program goes to Pony Power every Monday to take care of the horses and other animals clean the horse stables pet the horses and other animals. Pony Power is a good place to go horseback riding.

Will NEVER forget my experience here. My mother was dying from cancer and loved horses so we brought her for therapy to see the horses.I brought my severely disabled son along so he could see the horses be with his grandma. I also had my baby with special needs who never slept with us. The baby miraculously fell asleep in the car so I wanted to drop off my son with his nurse keep driving so she could nap.The owner absolutely refused to let my son stay WITH HIS NURSE unless I was there. Of course since I had to park the car the baby woke up and was miserable the rest of the day.How horrible for a place that supposedly treats people with disabilities and special needs. This was 6 years ago Ill never forget how upset they made me my poor mom who passed away shortly afterwards.

What a wonderful place They had a special activity going on today where we got to experience life on the farm. And most of the produce they grow gets donated. Theyre a therapy farm but arent doing that right now.

I like to watch my niece take her pony lessons here Its pretty therapeutic and you can learn a lot about the relationships between a horse and their owner by watching them train together.
