I am someone who usually stays away from doctors unless I am in poor shape. To my surprise I had a great experience. The doctor nurses and staff members were so professional. They cared to listen and explained things thoroughly I never felt pressured rushed or judged while I shared my concerns regarding my own health. Thank you for a job well done God Bless you for caring

Rohan Swanston PA is knowledgeable empathetic in his care hes a valuable asset to Physicians Immediate I am a Clinician myself very pleased Justin was also very good. However having to pay what I was told was an outstanding 40 billing from almost 5 yrs. ago that I didnt previously receive is disconcerting I am checking my records because I NEVER not pay my bills so I had to pay 80 upfront for service.

I was honestly surprised at the level of care I received at Physicians Immediate Care in Oswego. Having had previous negative even traumatic experiences I tend to feel anxious in medical settings. This wasnt the case for me this time was easily my best experience at a clinic.I dont think Ive ever written a review for a clinic but I couldnt pass up the opportunity to share my experience. I was seen by several members of the staff and I felt at ease from the moment I encountered the lovely receptionist to the PA Mr. Rohan Swanston. Each member of staff was kind calm understanding and reassuring. I cant tell you how much that means to a patient coming into a clinic in a vulnerable state. I felt truly heard. Mr. Swanston was very knowledgeable and I knew I was in good hands.Thank you for easing my fears giving me peace of mind of course helping me get better. To the staff - your comforting approach and kindness are so appreciated.EDIT - Yes please feel free to share my feedback on your site

STOP DONT GO HERE THEY WONT SWAB YOU CORRECTLY So I decided to try out physicians immediate care Ive been here before in the past for my kids. With ok results. So it was easy I made an appointment online. To start off they want you to go online and fill out everything before being seen the receptionist behind the desk is there for what again I had the flu so Im completely out of it. And they want me to answer all these questions online. Take my own pictures of insurance card and drivers license. Once again what is the lady behind the desk doing NOTHING. I get called and the nurse seemed very nice. But I hate to say it as soon as she swabbed me for flu or Covid I already knew my test was messed up. She doesnt know how to swab she barely put the q-tip in my nose. So of course my results came back negative. Dr. Swanston came in the room he was barely in the room just talking Sooooo fast I barely understood him and I dont even think he was looking at me just his paper. So he continued to talk fast using all his knowledge like hes giving a presentation. No patient skills. Like hes talking to another doctor. I expressed all my symptoms to him and its like he didnt even acknowledge them. After that horrible visit I went to the emergency room because I knew that appointment was weak and results were wrong. And sure enough I tested positive for the flu. Because at this place nurse doesnt know how to swab. And doctor didnt even check me. Just TALKED the entire time.

I booked an appointment 24 hours before. When I arrived the staff let me know there was no medical professionals available due to a shortage. I was most surprised they had not called me to cancel if this was the case. I would have been much more understanding if I had received a phone call.

Need to update system.. insurance was showing not active which is not true. I called to verify it was active and suggested that they put in wrong and was told no it wasnt a mistake. I was visibly upset and they wouldnt double check it. I went home at that point without seeing anyone and verified again at home that my insurance was very much active. Went to Midwest Express Clinic instead..way better customer service without any problems.

Frequently Asked Questions
Your pediatrician might be able to administer screenings, but most general doctors are not trained to formally diagnose autism. They might refer you to a qualified diagnostic clinician which include:
Developmental Pediatricians
Child Psychologists
Child Psychiatrists
Pediatric Neurologists
Pediatric Neuropsychologists
Your experience might look different depending on the type of clinician you choose. Many families prefer working with developmental pediatricians. Others might work with a psychiatrist or another specialist to get a different perspective.
A formal ASD diagnosis, or a medical diagnosis, helps you get the support your family needs, especially within the context of accessing medically necessary therapies and services.
Insurance Coverage for Therapies: Medically necessary therapies for ASD are often covered by insurance including, but not limited to, speech therapy, ABA therapy, and occupational therapy.
Financial Support: A diagnosis is required when applying for social security or disability benefits.
Plan for Care: A diagnosis helps identify your child’s support needs. For example, your child might need to develop social communication and self-regulation skills.
Future Research: The more data we gather through evaluations, the more we can improve services for autistic children and adults.
The occupational therapy process includes an OT evaluation before care starts. Here are the four steps your family can expect when starting occupational therapy:
Complete OT evaluation. An occupational therapist first identifies your child’s strengths and needs through a thorough OT evaluation, also known as an OT assessment or screening. You’ll answer questions about your child’s skills, and your child will most likely demonstrate their skills via hands-on activities with the therapist. Evaluations can last 30 minutes to a few hours.
Approve OT plan. The therapist develops a care plan with individualized goals and customized interventions based on your child’s needs. You can also share any specific goals or concerns before approving the OT plan.
Start therapy sessions. The therapist works directly with your child and your family, using various strategies and exercises to systematically improve areas of limitations and to build upon a child’s strengths. Some exercises your child might participate in are animal walks, obstacle courses, and therapy swing activities. Your family may learn strategies for supporting your child’s individualized needs at home, such as ways of supporting emotional regulation and sensory processing. The therapist may also recommend tools and techniques to use at home, in the community, or in the classroom to help your child succeed.
Monitor your child’s progress. Parents and caregivers can expect ongoing progress monitoring and communication to ensure the child is achieving their short and long-term goals.
Occupational therapy can also be provided virtually via telemedicine. Virtual therapy is a great option for families in rural areas who may not have access to in-person services, or for families who prefer to have therapy in their child’s home.
Virtual OT allows the opportunity for increased caregiver participation and understanding of a child’s strengths, areas of improvement, and generalization of skills in the child’s home environment. Virtual therapy also provides increased opportunities for caregiver and family education to support the child and the family based on each family’s needs.
Once you find a quality physical therapist you want to work with, here are a few things you need to know:
There will be an evaluation. First, you can expect an assessment to identify your child’s areas of strength and needs. A physical therapy evaluation usually lasts 30 minutes.
You’ll review and approve the care plan. The physical therapist will create a care plan, also known as a plan of care (POC), outlining the goals and strategies. They will review this with you and your care team before moving forward with therapy sessions.
Physical therapy sessions will be fun. PT with children is designed to be enjoyable. The therapist will use strategies and exercises based on your child’s needs. Exercises might involve playing on large stability balls, obstacle courses, movement equipment, stretches, and other hands-on activities.
Expect home exercises. Physical therapists commonly assign exercises to work on at home. Doing these exercises with your child outside therapy sessions can improve your child’s overall progress.
Yes! Most providers offer physical therapy in their offices or a clinical setting, but many are offering at-home options. Virtual options have become more popular in recent years. You might facilitate care with the guidance of the physical therapist.
Pediatric physical therapy is considered safe and should not hurt. Autistic children spend their time in PT moving and exploring their environment. If you are concerned about your child experiencing pain during certain exercises, especially if they may struggle to communicate and advocate for modifications, speak with their physical therapist about your concerns.
