Easy to schedule check in for an appt. I met with Dr. Lauren who was incredibly helpful to address my health concerns timely and with options. He understood the need for a quick medical response and worked with me to make sure I received proper care. 1010 would go back again if any medical urgency arrives thats not an emergency. Stay healthy out there

Do not go here. They dont explain costs very well and they just want to get a quick buck out of you. I went with symptoms in December and I was given a covid test and then sent to the ER room when the test came back negative. They failed to apply the test correctly and so one very expensive ER trip later It was covid. They did nothing but apply a cotton swab and are still charging money. Dont trust these people

Everyone knows health care sucks in America but some places just like to rub in the dirt. I just waited an hour a half to get a diagnosis and prescription where there were maybe 3 other patients total at that time. Funny enough almost an hour of that time was spent waiting for the staff to figure out who was supposed to send over my prescription to my pharmacy. The receptionist thought I was waiting on a ride the whole time Am I supposed to go to the receptionist and put the order from the doctor in like this place is a Med School McDonalds Imagine if these people were your airplane pilots would you want them flying your plane with this amount of inconsideration and inaction Probably not so I guess its good they work in health careSteer clear of this place if youre fortunate enough to be able to.

Dr. Lauren is truly a pleasure. He turned a tough situation into a very comfortable experience. I was VERY disappointed that the clinic was closed today for my follow up visit. However you dont come across people with the work ethic and compassion that I felt at this location so I will be back when they reopen.

There is a male PA at the North Center location who is truly exceptional with my daughter. Excellent bedside manner takes his time to learn the issue is informative caring and funny when appropriate. He provides care I did not expect at an urgent care facility.

I recently went for medical care at physicians immediate care on western and was seen by Lauren Buckingham I had a wonderful experience as Lauren was very compassionate and knowledgeable. She did exactly what a medical professional should do which is evaluate assess diagnose and prescribe the appropriate treatment. Much different than the NW immediate care in Lincoln square who just wanted to pass the buck and send me to the ER. Very happy I chose to get a second opinion before crowding the ER and spending thousands when not needed.

All of the staff were so friendly when I was truly feeling my worst They made me feel very welcome. The check in process was easy to understand. The line moved quickly. I explained all of my symptoms to the nurses and doctors after that the follow up treatment plan was so quick and painless to check out and move right along. Would absolutely recommend this location

I have had to go in twice once for myself and other time for my daughter was able to get appointment online with no issues upon arrival did not have to wait more than 10 minutes past appointment time. Nursing staff was great as well as PANP. I felt I received great quality care both for me and my daughter. Im very thankful that these locations are available and many nearby locations especially on the weekends and holidays when its so hard to go see your regular doctor

Made an appointment online only to come and see this I walked around looking in and no one was in there. If I was able to make an appointment at this time then they should be open or at the very least have some type of explanation. Ridiculous

This place isnt even open at the right times. Yet you can still make appointments for certain AM times. Someone did finally come at like 905 but I had already made an appointment somewhere else since it didnt seem like it was open. Please adjust the business hours or provide updates to people who scheduled appointments and had them confirmed

Frequently Asked Questions
Your pediatrician might be able to administer screenings, but most general doctors are not trained to formally diagnose autism. They might refer you to a qualified diagnostic clinician which include:
Developmental Pediatricians
Child Psychologists
Child Psychiatrists
Pediatric Neurologists
Pediatric Neuropsychologists
Your experience might look different depending on the type of clinician you choose. Many families prefer working with developmental pediatricians. Others might work with a psychiatrist or another specialist to get a different perspective.
A formal ASD diagnosis, or a medical diagnosis, helps you get the support your family needs, especially within the context of accessing medically necessary therapies and services.
Insurance Coverage for Therapies: Medically necessary therapies for ASD are often covered by insurance including, but not limited to, speech therapy, ABA therapy, and occupational therapy.
Financial Support: A diagnosis is required when applying for social security or disability benefits.
Plan for Care: A diagnosis helps identify your child’s support needs. For example, your child might need to develop social communication and self-regulation skills.
Future Research: The more data we gather through evaluations, the more we can improve services for autistic children and adults.
The occupational therapy process includes an OT evaluation before care starts. Here are the four steps your family can expect when starting occupational therapy:
Complete OT evaluation. An occupational therapist first identifies your child’s strengths and needs through a thorough OT evaluation, also known as an OT assessment or screening. You’ll answer questions about your child’s skills, and your child will most likely demonstrate their skills via hands-on activities with the therapist. Evaluations can last 30 minutes to a few hours.
Approve OT plan. The therapist develops a care plan with individualized goals and customized interventions based on your child’s needs. You can also share any specific goals or concerns before approving the OT plan.
Start therapy sessions. The therapist works directly with your child and your family, using various strategies and exercises to systematically improve areas of limitations and to build upon a child’s strengths. Some exercises your child might participate in are animal walks, obstacle courses, and therapy swing activities. Your family may learn strategies for supporting your child’s individualized needs at home, such as ways of supporting emotional regulation and sensory processing. The therapist may also recommend tools and techniques to use at home, in the community, or in the classroom to help your child succeed.
Monitor your child’s progress. Parents and caregivers can expect ongoing progress monitoring and communication to ensure the child is achieving their short and long-term goals.
Occupational therapy can also be provided virtually via telemedicine. Virtual therapy is a great option for families in rural areas who may not have access to in-person services, or for families who prefer to have therapy in their child’s home.
Virtual OT allows the opportunity for increased caregiver participation and understanding of a child’s strengths, areas of improvement, and generalization of skills in the child’s home environment. Virtual therapy also provides increased opportunities for caregiver and family education to support the child and the family based on each family’s needs.
Once you find a quality physical therapist you want to work with, here are a few things you need to know:
There will be an evaluation. First, you can expect an assessment to identify your child’s areas of strength and needs. A physical therapy evaluation usually lasts 30 minutes.
You’ll review and approve the care plan. The physical therapist will create a care plan, also known as a plan of care (POC), outlining the goals and strategies. They will review this with you and your care team before moving forward with therapy sessions.
Physical therapy sessions will be fun. PT with children is designed to be enjoyable. The therapist will use strategies and exercises based on your child’s needs. Exercises might involve playing on large stability balls, obstacle courses, movement equipment, stretches, and other hands-on activities.
Expect home exercises. Physical therapists commonly assign exercises to work on at home. Doing these exercises with your child outside therapy sessions can improve your child’s overall progress.
Yes! Most providers offer physical therapy in their offices or a clinical setting, but many are offering at-home options. Virtual options have become more popular in recent years. You might facilitate care with the guidance of the physical therapist.
Pediatric physical therapy is considered safe and should not hurt. Autistic children spend their time in PT moving and exploring their environment. If you are concerned about your child experiencing pain during certain exercises, especially if they may struggle to communicate and advocate for modifications, speak with their physical therapist about your concerns.
