Had to bring my four year old son in. Was very flustered and couldnt find my insurance card. Woman at front desk was very kind and patient. We went back right away. The nurse who took his vitals was so nice and supportive. Dr. Ellerbroek was so sweet to him and answered any and all the questions I had. I rarely write reviews but I am so thankful for all the great staff here. Thank all of you ladies

I arrived at 300 on a Thursday. Maybe 1 other person in there. It took over 30 minutes to get back to a room. I left at 430. I only needed a work physical and a TB test. Crazy. Ive gotten so many TBs and physicals over the years. This was the longest its ever taken.

I have been here before for myself and wasnt impressed at all had a different doctornurse but when I brought in my son yesterday for a possible ear infection they were able to get us right in with very little wait time the receptionist was very kind and helpful and the nurse Kayla was wonderful from start to finish. She tried to offer many things to my son to try to help make him comfortable in a doctor setting which I appreciated so much. Doctor came in and did an exam only thing I was disappointed in was that he didnt voluntarily listen auscultate to my son to make sure his lungs and heart sounded fine as well as the rest of his PE. Otherwise he was very nice patient and respectful. In and out within about 45 minutes total. Very thankful they were available and willing to see my son during a winterstorm.

Went in with an ear infection. Was prescribed ear drops that are 250.. luckily I had a nice pharmacist was able to get them for 70. Dr. Said hardest part would be getting the ear drops in tried the drops no gomy ear was swollen shut..my face and neck started swelling.. called the next day and was told I would need to be seen again because the Dr. I saw wasnt there. When I got there for the second time I was told they dont take my insurance. I have United Healthcare PPO.. had to pay 168 twice Then was given a tiny ear stick. For 168 Staff and doctors are nice..I should have been given the tiny ear thing the day before also could have at least been given a discount for having to come twice in less than 24 hours..I am still swollen.. cant hear.. its 4 days later.. 400 gone..I heard them tell another man they dont take his insurance. Would not recommend.. waste of time and money. If you still want to try them..Call first and make sure they take your insurance. This place USED to be my go to.. NEVER againcant afford to pay full price. Thats the self pay price as well 165. No discount.

I took my Mom to see what was going on with her and she tried to talk but couldnt really get it out due to being short of breath and pounding headache. I tried to talk for her but Dr. T. Strawser completely ignored me. Didnt offer my mom a seat during examination. Just Had her standing during her breathing exam. Which is all he did. He asked her did she know about an antibiotic he suggested. She said no and he said well Ill send it to the pharmacy. I had to stop him and ask what are you diagnosing her with He said bronchitis with no explanation about the antibiotic or anything informative. Completely unprofessional and dismissed. Frequently Asked Questions
Your pediatrician might be able to administer screenings, but most general doctors are not trained to formally diagnose autism. They might refer you to a qualified diagnostic clinician which include:
Developmental Pediatricians
Child Psychologists
Child Psychiatrists
Pediatric Neurologists
Pediatric Neuropsychologists
Your experience might look different depending on the type of clinician you choose. Many families prefer working with developmental pediatricians. Others might work with a psychiatrist or another specialist to get a different perspective.
A formal ASD diagnosis, or a medical diagnosis, helps you get the support your family needs, especially within the context of accessing medically necessary therapies and services.
Insurance Coverage for Therapies: Medically necessary therapies for ASD are often covered by insurance including, but not limited to, speech therapy, ABA therapy, and occupational therapy.
Financial Support: A diagnosis is required when applying for social security or disability benefits.
Plan for Care: A diagnosis helps identify your child’s support needs. For example, your child might need to develop social communication and self-regulation skills.
Future Research: The more data we gather through evaluations, the more we can improve services for autistic children and adults.
The occupational therapy process includes an OT evaluation before care starts. Here are the four steps your family can expect when starting occupational therapy:
Complete OT evaluation. An occupational therapist first identifies your child’s strengths and needs through a thorough OT evaluation, also known as an OT assessment or screening. You’ll answer questions about your child’s skills, and your child will most likely demonstrate their skills via hands-on activities with the therapist. Evaluations can last 30 minutes to a few hours.
Approve OT plan. The therapist develops a care plan with individualized goals and customized interventions based on your child’s needs. You can also share any specific goals or concerns before approving the OT plan.
Start therapy sessions. The therapist works directly with your child and your family, using various strategies and exercises to systematically improve areas of limitations and to build upon a child’s strengths. Some exercises your child might participate in are animal walks, obstacle courses, and therapy swing activities. Your family may learn strategies for supporting your child’s individualized needs at home, such as ways of supporting emotional regulation and sensory processing. The therapist may also recommend tools and techniques to use at home, in the community, or in the classroom to help your child succeed.
Monitor your child’s progress. Parents and caregivers can expect ongoing progress monitoring and communication to ensure the child is achieving their short and long-term goals.
Occupational therapy can also be provided virtually via telemedicine. Virtual therapy is a great option for families in rural areas who may not have access to in-person services, or for families who prefer to have therapy in their child’s home.
Virtual OT allows the opportunity for increased caregiver participation and understanding of a child’s strengths, areas of improvement, and generalization of skills in the child’s home environment. Virtual therapy also provides increased opportunities for caregiver and family education to support the child and the family based on each family’s needs.
Once you find a quality physical therapist you want to work with, here are a few things you need to know:
There will be an evaluation. First, you can expect an assessment to identify your child’s areas of strength and needs. A physical therapy evaluation usually lasts 30 minutes.
You’ll review and approve the care plan. The physical therapist will create a care plan, also known as a plan of care (POC), outlining the goals and strategies. They will review this with you and your care team before moving forward with therapy sessions.
Physical therapy sessions will be fun. PT with children is designed to be enjoyable. The therapist will use strategies and exercises based on your child’s needs. Exercises might involve playing on large stability balls, obstacle courses, movement equipment, stretches, and other hands-on activities.
Expect home exercises. Physical therapists commonly assign exercises to work on at home. Doing these exercises with your child outside therapy sessions can improve your child’s overall progress.
Yes! Most providers offer physical therapy in their offices or a clinical setting, but many are offering at-home options. Virtual options have become more popular in recent years. You might facilitate care with the guidance of the physical therapist.
Pediatric physical therapy is considered safe and should not hurt. Autistic children spend their time in PT moving and exploring their environment. If you are concerned about your child experiencing pain during certain exercises, especially if they may struggle to communicate and advocate for modifications, speak with their physical therapist about your concerns.
