My entire experience from the beginning with the front desk person next was a polite young lady who gathered my health history and finally the nurse practitioner a veryPersonable young lady. They all wereVery professional and patient relatable . I couldnt ask for a betterGroup of medical professionals.

Overall I think this clinic provides decent care for non-urgent complaints but I question the professionalism of some of the staff here. When I came in for cold symptoms the provider that attended to me was pleasant but the nurseclinical assistant that did my intake was not. She had the demeanor of a moody teenager and acted as if shed rather be anywhere else when she asked me the intake questions. There was another time I was in the waiting room with three other Black patients when a middle-aged Caucasian woman checked in and remarked to the receptionist who was also Caucasian that there were a bunch of N-words in here today. The receptionist didnt say anything. It wasnt until another patient repeated her words that the receptionist said Oh I didnt know she said that but she STILL didnt address her comment. She didnt say anything to make it clear that her behavior was unacceptable but instead sat there quietly and let us the other patients tell the woman that her racism wouldnt be tolerated. I couldnt believe how passive she was when faced with a patient that was actively creating a hostile environment for other patients in the clinic. I honestly still cant believe it which is why I feel compelled to write about that experience months later.

All of the associates were very helpful and professional. Though I had multiple tests scheduled the entire process was seamless and felt as if time went by quickly. Would definitely recommend.

My husband and daughter are there right now. 1202 appt. 115 just brought back to room. Then told they will keep exam by Tele Med. I could have done that for free at home. Upon arriving told we had a balance from 4 years ago and had to pay. Never did they send us a bill for the past for years. I will never go here again and recommend all to steer clear as well.

Went in as a walk in for a pre-employment exam. Staff was extremely helpful and considerate of my needs. Had trouble online but they helped walk me through it all. Doctor was very thorough informative and considerate as well. She was clear and answered all questions in a kind manner.

This was my first visit here. I would highly recommend it. Keysha Askew treated me like a PCP. When I explained I was only home visiting and would be returning abroad to a place with questionable healthcare she showed concern and insisted we run all the tests and be sure any meds I needed would be available to me. She took the time to really consider my situation talk to me about my issues and find solutions. I greatly appreciate it.

If I could leave zero stars I would.I waited all day for a 600 pm appointment for my son. I get there fill out their paperwork and give them my insurance information.I was then told that I would have to pay for the entire visit because a copay was not listed. They wanted 131 for the visit. They told me it was company policy and it started 3 months ago. I was just at the PIC in New Lenox 2 weeks ago and was not charged a dime. I do not know what kind of scam that this place is pulling but please do not fall for it.If you are looking for an alternative I highly recommend the Emerge Quick Care down the street behind Taco Bell. They were friendly fast and did not charge me 131 because I have insurance.

I did have an appointment but I still waited an hour to be seen. In all fairness they were busy so I understood. The care I received was excellent. The nurses assistant was friendly professional and Im sorry I cant remember her name. Amani PA was a delight. She was knowledgeable and kind. Even though there was a wait the rest of the appointment was professional every question I had was answered and I was treated with respect. All in all it was a great experience and Im grateful they could get me in.

Staff is friendly enough but very frustrating to make a 1030 appointment not to be seen until 115.I made an appointment here over my regular doctor as I thought it would be quicker than the average 30 minute wait at my primary care. Not quick. Not immediate. Prescheduled appointments dont really matter. I just wish they wouldnt allow you to book an appointment if they know they cant see you for 2 more hours.

Frequently Asked Questions
Your pediatrician might be able to administer screenings, but most general doctors are not trained to formally diagnose autism. They might refer you to a qualified diagnostic clinician which include:
Developmental Pediatricians
Child Psychologists
Child Psychiatrists
Pediatric Neurologists
Pediatric Neuropsychologists
Your experience might look different depending on the type of clinician you choose. Many families prefer working with developmental pediatricians. Others might work with a psychiatrist or another specialist to get a different perspective.
A formal ASD diagnosis, or a medical diagnosis, helps you get the support your family needs, especially within the context of accessing medically necessary therapies and services.
Insurance Coverage for Therapies: Medically necessary therapies for ASD are often covered by insurance including, but not limited to, speech therapy, ABA therapy, and occupational therapy.
Financial Support: A diagnosis is required when applying for social security or disability benefits.
Plan for Care: A diagnosis helps identify your child’s support needs. For example, your child might need to develop social communication and self-regulation skills.
Future Research: The more data we gather through evaluations, the more we can improve services for autistic children and adults.
The occupational therapy process includes an OT evaluation before care starts. Here are the four steps your family can expect when starting occupational therapy:
Complete OT evaluation. An occupational therapist first identifies your child’s strengths and needs through a thorough OT evaluation, also known as an OT assessment or screening. You’ll answer questions about your child’s skills, and your child will most likely demonstrate their skills via hands-on activities with the therapist. Evaluations can last 30 minutes to a few hours.
Approve OT plan. The therapist develops a care plan with individualized goals and customized interventions based on your child’s needs. You can also share any specific goals or concerns before approving the OT plan.
Start therapy sessions. The therapist works directly with your child and your family, using various strategies and exercises to systematically improve areas of limitations and to build upon a child’s strengths. Some exercises your child might participate in are animal walks, obstacle courses, and therapy swing activities. Your family may learn strategies for supporting your child’s individualized needs at home, such as ways of supporting emotional regulation and sensory processing. The therapist may also recommend tools and techniques to use at home, in the community, or in the classroom to help your child succeed.
Monitor your child’s progress. Parents and caregivers can expect ongoing progress monitoring and communication to ensure the child is achieving their short and long-term goals.
Occupational therapy can also be provided virtually via telemedicine. Virtual therapy is a great option for families in rural areas who may not have access to in-person services, or for families who prefer to have therapy in their child’s home.
Virtual OT allows the opportunity for increased caregiver participation and understanding of a child’s strengths, areas of improvement, and generalization of skills in the child’s home environment. Virtual therapy also provides increased opportunities for caregiver and family education to support the child and the family based on each family’s needs.
Once you find a quality physical therapist you want to work with, here are a few things you need to know:
There will be an evaluation. First, you can expect an assessment to identify your child’s areas of strength and needs. A physical therapy evaluation usually lasts 30 minutes.
You’ll review and approve the care plan. The physical therapist will create a care plan, also known as a plan of care (POC), outlining the goals and strategies. They will review this with you and your care team before moving forward with therapy sessions.
Physical therapy sessions will be fun. PT with children is designed to be enjoyable. The therapist will use strategies and exercises based on your child’s needs. Exercises might involve playing on large stability balls, obstacle courses, movement equipment, stretches, and other hands-on activities.
Expect home exercises. Physical therapists commonly assign exercises to work on at home. Doing these exercises with your child outside therapy sessions can improve your child’s overall progress.
Yes! Most providers offer physical therapy in their offices or a clinical setting, but many are offering at-home options. Virtual options have become more popular in recent years. You might facilitate care with the guidance of the physical therapist.
Pediatric physical therapy is considered safe and should not hurt. Autistic children spend their time in PT moving and exploring their environment. If you are concerned about your child experiencing pain during certain exercises, especially if they may struggle to communicate and advocate for modifications, speak with their physical therapist about your concerns.
