Pediatric Associates - Portsmouth

I have tried to stick it out with the office for 4 years because Dr. Benton is incredible but I have had it. The billing department has made several errors most of the front desk are rude and triage nurses are dismissive and do not wish to hear the concerns of a parent. There are no follow ups you have to ask to meet with a doctor otherwise you will have a nurse. You cannot schedule out an appointment six months in advance. The sick visits are not thorough at all. You ask for a nurse to call back regarding a concern sometimes they will sometimes they dont. Im so sad to leave such a talented and caring doctor. It is such a shame that these issues clearly have been going on for years and there has been no adjustments. I sympathize with the nature of the health care system and how overworked medical staff and professionals are but I truly wish there was some level of compassion given by the staff to parents who are concerned about their children. The last thing any parent let alone a special needs parent needs when there child is sick is to be spoken down to dismissed and ignored.

We love this practice. We have visited multiple doctors and NPs. My kids are neurodivergent and the staff is so patient with and kind to them and me

I am continuously amazed with this office. We have a 6 year old who is terrified of shots and I gave the office a heads up. They came up with a plan and 3 nurses took the best care of her. They were kind quick and my daughter called them wizards. What has been a traumatic experience in the past went smoothly and tear free.

We have been there almost 17 years Doctors have changed Patty is still there and I think they do a great job. You can wait request different providers...

my two daughters has been going to this locations since they were born. I havent had any issues with the staff or doctor. We are fairly headstrong on what we want to give or not give our kids and they respect our decisions. over all kids also are not troubled by anyone they meet here. So i would say my overall experience is great. we go to the Portsmouth branch

We have been going to this practice since 1992 They are fantastic and I cant recommend the entire staff enough From front office back office nurses Doctors...everyone has been respectful and professional and caring I have trusted them with all 3 of my children No matter the issue they have been amazing My youngest child is Transgender...this office has listened and learned and been so supportive of my child and our family I have zero hesitation recommending them-most of the staff have been with this practice as long as weve been coming..or shortly after You dont find that these days They obviously love what they do and where they work and who they work with

My wife and I were initially skeptical due to some of the reviews here which is why I felt compelled to share our great experience. My wife and I just had our baby girl and needed a pediatrician who was open on the weekends since our little girl was born with Jaundice and we would not be discharged unless we were seen the following day. When we called the front office personnel was extremely friendly and attentive to our request for a next day appointment - on Easter Sunday mind you. When we got there the office personnel was again great checking our newborn in and getting us to a room quickly should be the case for newborns especially on the weekendemergency care days. Dr. Hyer was great She is very personable empathetic and handled our daughters care far beyond our expectation. We were admitted right next door at Portsmouth Regional for UV treatment where we saw Dr. Hyer again and other Drs from their team. Follow-up check up with Dr. Tuner was great - very kind older gentlemen. They all took amazing care of our daughter and being parents to a newborn that was extremely important to us especially how they put our concernsnervousness at ease

My daughter has been going here since she was born December 2018. I called them today to get her seem for health reasons and I apparently owe them 310 from when she was just 3 days old. They said they have tried multiple times sending the bill to the insurance company but wouldnt show proof of it. I then call my insurance and they say they have no received any bill from them. Again I called today to get her seen as soon as possible. They then tell me that they are refusing to see my child because of the payment I owe them HOW CAN YOU REFUSE AN 11 MONTH OLD BABY THAT IS MISERABLE I will be finding a new Doctors Office for my baby to go to

Last month I sent a check to pay a bill and they cashed out the check. and today they sent us a new bill says we have to pay left of balance. I already...

I cannot say enough wonderful things about this practice. I currently have five children enrolled as patients some of whom we have adopted and have come from complex social situations. The office staff has always been professional. Remember this is a busy crucial office the office staff is doing their best to be thorough and meets the needs of multiple patients at a time. Sometimes they are brief but certainly not unprofessional. Dr. Turner is the definition of a grandfatherly and caring pediatrician from a lost era. He has taken a tremendous amount of time to understand the needs of my children. Vaccines are given swiftly and with explanation...then often followed up with popsicles. They even offer walk in hours. I really couldnt ask for more. Not to mention they have a really fabulous fish tank that is legendary

I wrote a negative review of the office manager who refused to schedule my childrens flu shot based on an unpaid balance. Her rudeness and word manipulation was noted. That review is gone .. And now we received a notice terminating our right as customers there based on me being rude to her staff. The truth is that I requested to speak to an office manager based on the receptionist not being able to schedule the office visit even though I clearly stated that I would take care of this balance in person when I got there for the flu shot. Never have we missed a payment nor lack the means to pay. This lady as I said in my last review manipulated my words and stated in the notice that I could not treat them poorly just because I have a lot of money. This goes beyond rude. Do not do business with this office. Again the staff has always been kind and competent. Not worth this dispecuable treatment.

Patty at front desk appointment person so rude always tell you doctor you are looking for is not in so you call to Hampton office to find out doctor is working at Portsmouth. When you inform her that you provided false information she always say I must have mis heard it. Yearly exam she does not book it till you visit the practice. When you tell her you wanted to speak with office manager they would not give office manager phone number or email. This is my 3 rd year in tow I am facing this issue. You could never get in contact with office manager. They never do appointment reminder call. She would book your appointment and over lap with someone else . I think I have seen her since last 10 year in that building and she is getting very old that it seems like memory issue where patient have to suffer. Feel like she take disadvantage of seniority and treat patient very rudely. As Dr. Benton is great at this facility. Any time you book emergency appointment you always have one of the nurse practitioner who barely even check a child its more in n out count the number of patient. Any time you ask to put on waiting list party inform call every other other but there is no waiting list. I would give this office staff zero rating. When I told them I may have to come with police office to get office manager email address or phone number they put the phone on answering machine and no one was picking up . I call after 15 minute later Nicole pick up seems like she knew I was looking for number so she transferred to general voicemail . I have not received call yet from office manager to rectify the issue.

I asked to have my daughter referred to a specialist and they gave me the phone number. I thought something may have been off when the voicemail didnt state the name of the facility so I didnt leave them a message. The physician had the nerve to go off on me for not having attempted to schedule an appointment with the number they provided. I told her to call it and sure enough it was a mother of another child in the practice. Thank god I didnt leave a message.Ive also had problems with a specific physician who is primarily in the Hampton office. My daughter was primarily breastfed as an infant. We went in one day for a normal physical. After informing the physician we were no longer living with her father she told me that my daughters growth had stopped and we needed to start supplementing with formula right away. She went to grab us samples and left the door open. I heard her tell the nurse I was a mess in the hallway. I took my daughter to a GI specialist who took one look at our chart and my very chubby baby and told us to leave the practice right away.I have left the office in tears on more than one occasion. I would not wish feeling like this on any parent. Avoid this place.
