About Pariva Health

website

We partner with The LEGO Foundation to support families of neurodivergent children, children with developmental delays, and children in need of a diagnosis that are between the ages of 3-12. Through our Family Support Program we create a customized Family Support Plan that works on language development, adaptive skills, cognitive skills, social skills, family mental health support, and self care and support. The goal is to provide continuous training and support to families that will improve overall well-being and quality of life.

Each family will receive an in-depth family assessment, customized Family Support Plan, individualized Therapeutic Developmental LEGO Kit (TDLK) play kit, and support for overall mental wellbeing. The TDLK play kit empowers and enables the family to actively engage with their child within the ease and comfort of their own home.

We recognize that parents are struggling with waitlists, lack of providers, are in need of a diagnosis, and more. At Pariva we have a no waitlist policy and are amongst a few providers that work with children pre-diagnosis and can help provide that diagnosis. Our mission is to promote mental and physical well-being, reduce stress, and foster happiness.

The Pariva Difference

Learning life skills playfully! 1. Play is every brain/s favorite way of learning. 2. Building skills, confidence, and a bright future, all come naturally when a child really enjoys his/her time around. 3. Children learn to stretch and navigate through play. They develop ways of thinking, producing, cooperating, and testing ideas that will help them succeed in life. 4. By implementing learning through play in every home and classroom, we can prepare our kids for the future.

A formal ASD diagnosis, or a medical diagnosis, helps you get the support your family needs, especially within the context of accessing medically necessary therapies and services.

  • Insurance Coverage for Therapies: Medically necessary therapies for ASD are often covered by insurance including, but not limited to, speech therapy, ABA therapy, and occupational therapy.
  • Financial Support: A diagnosis is required when applying for social security or disability benefits.
  • Plan for Care: A diagnosis helps identify your child’s support needs. For example, your child might need to develop social communication and self-regulation skills.
  • Future Research: The more data we gather through evaluations, the more we can improve services for autistic children and adults.

Check out Autism Diagnosis: The Complete Guide for Parents for more information.

1 in 36 children is diagnosed with autism according to the latest reports.

Here are some reasons why:

  • Medical professionals understand autism better. More doctors are trained to test for autism and other developmental and language delays.
  • The definition of autism has evolved in recent years which means that an autism diagnosis covers more conditions to help more people get the services they need.

For more information check out Common autism diagnosis questions: Answers from Dr. Melanie Hsu

Yes, but there is room for improvement. We don’t have a single, perfect diagnostic tool for autism and there are a lot of factors that contribute to an accurate diagnosis. There are a few “gold standards” that are used for diagnosis.

“Early Intervention” might be the provider’s way of describing services that they provide to babies or young children. However, it might also indicate that the provider is a vendor for your state’s publicly funded program. This means the services with this provider might be covered by your state!

The first step in accessing these free services from your state is to get an evaluation. The evaluation will help the state determine what services your child qualifies for, if any. You can find your state’s local EI program by clicking here.

When you contact your local center, say “I have concerns about my child’s development and I would like to have my child evaluated to find out if they are eligible for early intervention services.” They will ask screening questions and arrange for an evaluation, which is provided for free.

This happens. The results of the school’s evaluation may be different than your child’s medical diagnosis. It’s also important to remember that school is NOT the final say on your child’s potential. They may offer very little support to your child, underestimate their abilities, or disagree with you on what support your child needs. You will probably need to advocate for the services and support you believe your child needs.

Here are a few alternative options to consider:

  • Cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT): CBT helps by identifying and changing unhelpful thoughts and behaviors. It's useful for those dealing with social anxiety or difficulties. CBT addresses cognitive patterns and provides strategies to manage social challenges.
  • Group therapy: Group therapy offers a supportive space where individuals can practice social skills. They can feedback from peers and a therapist. It allows interaction with others who understand and learn from each other.
  • Play-based interventions: Play therapy or play-based interventions work well for younger children or those who learn through experiences. Play activities target specific social skills like turn-taking and problem-solving in a safe and engaging setting.
