Beaming Review
We've been here 4 times, for cleanings/x-rays, and a filling. Office is lovely, as medical environments go. Hygeniests are GREAT w/kids -professional, competent, AND trained in balloon sculpting, lol. A big hit with kids. Dentists seem competent, but one was brusque and un-interested in talking with me or my child (it was during covid , so everyone was edgy- giving him the benefit of the doubt here, but still- brusque). The 2nd one was almost too friendly, in a slightly manic, speedy way that alarmed me and my child. He was in such a rush, and he AND the hygienist kept saying that other patients were waiting; they didn't have all day, when my child was clearly scared and trying to avoid physical contact. He was clearly not picking up on signs of distress from his patient. We've had mixed experiences with desk/phone staff. Cool balloon animals are not enough to keep us coming back, sorry.

Frequently Asked Questions
Use visual aids. You can use picture schedules, videos, social stories, and other visual aids to show your child what to expect.
Take your child for a practice visit. This can be the same as the orientation visit, or it can be a “dry run” of an appointment where the dentist doesn’t actually work on your child’s teeth yet.
Bring items to fulfill sensory needs. Bringing your child’s favorite fidgets and toys so they can play during the appointment will be helpful.
Reduce unnecessary stress before and after. Reduce demands by wearing comfortable clothes, getting lots of rest, eliminating unnecessary activities (like grocery shopping — order for pick up!), and doing the things that relax your child. Your child will be able to regulate better when every day stressors are kept at a minimum.
