NEPC is a pleasure to work for. You feel fulfilled working there. The atmosphere is pleasant to work The nurse director is always open to listen to employees when they have any concern. The nurse manager also gives you support when you need and she always ask if is anything that she can do for you. Nurse educators and supervisors are always helping the nurses when the nurses are behind. That place will always be in my heart and I had to leave because I was going through some problems at home and it was affecting my concentration at work Those kiddos the patients were the sweetest and so in need of love. They are always clean the cnas take good care of them. My preceptor was the most calm compose and kind preceptor and so thorough with all the skills that I needed to learn she taught me so much without giving me any hard time. I am a better nurse because NEPD and I wish I didnt have to leave.

As a nurse you are tasked with caring for children with very complex medical needs. These children are 100 dependent on their caregivers and nurses are tasked with providing care for up to 13 patients each. These patients are fragile and present with complex medical issues such as ventilators cpap bipap trachestomy care suctioning oxygen therapy tube feedings through g j tubes chest physiotherapy and much more. Too heavy a work load for each nurse within an eight hour shift to provide safe and adequate care the patients need. On my first night training I seen quite a few things that prove my point that this work load could cause mistakes and errors by the nurse due to them having to move fast to complete their tasks and this potentially puts patients at risk with errors being made treatments not being completed and more. I was hired under the expectation that they were adding a fourth nurse to each shift which would lessen the patient load and make this job more manageable but no person had a definitive answer as to when. The facility is beautiful children are wonderful training is very good and my interaction with management and staff was very positive but my choice to leave was due to protecting my license and not putting myself in a situation where the expectations are to much where potential issues could arise that could cause harm to the child or the nurse due to the heavy work load and high patient volume. Should they ever add the fourth nurse as I was informed at my time of interview I would love to work there when I have a manageable amount of patients and a lighter work load where I as a nurse could provide optimal care for the highly fragile and complex patients I am entrusted to care for.
