About NC Neuropsychiatry - Charlotte

North Carolina Neuropsychiatry began at the University of North Carolina in 1978 as the Neuropsychiatry Research Project. For 11 years at UNC, the clinic was funded by the National Institutes of Health. In 1988, NC Neuropsychiatry, PA became the first private clinic in North Carolina devoted exclusively to medical psychiatry and rehabilitation. Since then, we have provided consultations and treatment in general psychiatry, neuropsychiatry, and psychopharmacology. As the clinic has grown and developed, we have drawn patients from across the state as well as across the country

I dont know if this will get taken down but I agree with the commenter about the negative reviews.I joined the practice earlier this year and was matched with the wonderful Dr. Andersen. When I got the call from Chrystal it was a Sunday. I was thrilled when I found out that I could remain a patient at the practice even though I was a new patient at the time.My own patience paid off as Ive become a patient of Amy Boison whon I absolutely adore. I cant tell you how glad I am to have found this office. Mallie Chrystal and Samantha are all amazing in their own rights. Im a bit of a drive from Charlotte but I know its completely worth it

I dont know how anyone could ever give this place a bad review I have been working with them them since 2012. The doctors have always been absolutely fabulous. They have always catered to my needs with great care and attentiveness. John Susan and now Kiersten especially She took the the time to listen learn and help me when nobody else would. This place has literally saved my life. Without doubt the best in the area

I am adding to my original review - if I could give it less than a star I would - Allow me to say - My Dr I was paired with Left this office for another job.. I must say Smart Man he was a very nice man and I will say I did like him. I had no issues with his it was the staff as a whole there that has ruined the name of this office. Now with that being said....I received a call stating that I was going to have to change Drs due to my Dr leaving. Ok... I have no choice but to do this.... I have to push my appointment out 2 months because I cant go when it is good for the New Dr. Hmmmmmmm.... Interesting... Ok It gets better - I then receive a letter in the mail. Stating that I had to find another provider due to the overload of patients. Along with this letter I got a list of practices that SAID they were taking NEW patients... Well I called and NONE of them were... I am still looking for a Dr. Appts are pushed out as far as 3 and 4 months. A Dr office to do this to their patients without giving them adequate information to get care is unacceptable. - no wonder they cant keep Drs here. This is the MOST incompetent office I have EVER Dealt with. You will NOT get a call back - you will NOT be acknowledged as their message states if you leave a voicemail. I will find another Dr as this office has NO sense of UrgencyDont waste your time I have to add to my review. because - I have no choice. This location

I first attended NC Neruo the first part of 2016 and was matched up with a care provider I adored. She took the time to listen to what was going on with me and acted accordenly she also addressed any concerns or questions I had. She then left to another location and I was matched up with someone new. Upon my first visit with the new care provider I was not sure it would be a good match. However with one visit you can not really tell. So I gave her a few more tries. As I worked with her it became very clear that she did not read my chart she had suggested medication changes some of the medications mentioned were ones I have tried in past and had a very very bad response too. This was a major concern. I asked if she had looked at the GenSight test that the original care provider had ordered. Her response was that she did not believe in the test. However every single medication I had tried in past and had a bad experience with came back in the red zone and I told her that therefore I had to say there was some truth to the test. Why would the office offer GenSight testing if they dont believe in itShe then tried prescribing a couple new medications in addition to what I was already taking. I did not feel the need for them however I did give it a try once and I hated how they made me feel so I stopped taking the new medications. The next visit again she tried prescribing two more new meds in replacement of the ones I would not take. I did not have them filled and I did not take them. I did not feel 5 mood altering medications was what was best for me.Needless to say after I realized she had not read my chart I got myself on a waiting list with a new practice. I had enough medication to get me through until my first visit with the new care provider so I canceled my appointment with NC Neuro. In addition to this they were trying to send me 3 separate bills for 120 I had asked them in writing to please respond back in writing as to what the bills were for. A couple weeks latter they called me. I was told UnitedHealth care did not pay the claims and it was my responsibility.Keep in mind this practice is on the UnitedHealth care proffered provider list. I stated I knew that was not correct with my particular plan I am only obligate to pay my copy and what were they going to do about it. To which they responded back well we dont have to do anything about it we do not have to submit your claims for you that is your responsibility however I will do it out of courtesy to you.I then got off the phone and called UntiedHealth they had in fact paid all three claims and thanked me for calling with my concern. I then filed a complaint with UntiedHealth regarding this practice. I know how difficult it is to get into a provider. My advise if you end up desperate and you have to see someone you do not like place calls and get on a waiting list. Ask your care provider PCP who they would recommend. If you contact a office that has two locations and one does not take your insurance ask if the other office takes that insurance. In my case I was referred to where I am currently going however it was an office in Ballantyne who does not take UnitedHealth when I called that office to be seen in January they should have told me about the office near uptown who does take UnitedHealth. I would have made the drive initially to go there. Be your own advocate and know what is right for you. If you dont feel like who you are seeing is a good match be proactive and get on a waiting list some place else. It may take a few tries with different locations but you are bound to find a good match. With that said I DO NOT RECOMMEND NC NEURO Thank you.

Sue Merrill was the most insensitive doctor imaginable. After waiting to see her 30 minutes past my appointment time she was extremely rude. The office staff was completely clueless and incapable.

Love my doctor but hate that its impossible to talk to someone directly you have to leave a msg and they say theyll call back within 2 business days and they always take 2 business days to call me back which is very frustrating when you miss their call
