Advocate on behalf of parents and students with special needs before public school districts to secure a free and appropriate Individualized Educational Program (IEP) to meet students' unique educational requirements. Advocacy includes: consultations with parents (and students, if applicable) regarding current educational program/placement, reviewing/requesting district and/or Independent Educational Evaluations (IEE), attending Planning and Placement Team meetings (PPT), requesting additional special education and related services to improve educational progress, requesting out of district placements (as needed), homebound instruction (as needed), attending mediations to resolve dispute informally if possible, filing and representation at Due Process Hearings.
