About My Education Advocate LLC
As a retired special education teacher and program coordinator for the past 35 years, I know how to assist parents in navigating the complicated special education maze. I have made it my career mission to educate and empower parents of children with special education needs in obtaining the free, appropriate educational placement for their child that they are legally entitled to. I specialize in working with students in grades 6-12 who are experiencing, or who have clinical diagnoses of an emotional disability (clinical, social or behavioral), Other Health Impairment such as ADHD, students with ASD, students identified as twice exceptional, and students identified as having specific learning disabilities. There are many services offered in the public-school systems. The process of learning about those services and how to obtain them for your child can often be intimidating and difficult to navigate. Having an advocate allows parents to not be the "heavy" in the scenario and hopefully reduce the stress that they are experiencing as they go about the process of advocating for their child-one of the most important roles they have as a parent. Having been in the public school system as a special education teacher and program administrator, I am able to communicate with school teams in a realistic, cooperative and clear manner. I understand the system, I know the language and can help to facilitate the sometimes-difficult conversations and discussions necessary to achieve positive outcomes for students. That is my goal. I offer free 30-minute phone consultation session in which you can share your situation and I can determine if I am the right advocate for you. Most of the time, I am. Please feel free to review my website, along with the reviews clients have left on Google.

Founding Story
Upon retirement after 35 years as a special educator and administrator in the public-school special education system, I decided to open up an advocacy business and sit on the opposite side of special education meeting table. During my career as a program coordinator, I had many parents and school staff tell me I should be an advocate for parents of students with special needs. I opened my business in 2018 and while the work is hard, the benefits are long-lasting. I am making a difference in the lives of young people, which is what my career goal has always been.
