When we started our journey with Monkey Mouths a year ago we were so excited Dr. Bari is the BEST audiologist we have ever had my child is 17 she got us the best hearing aids on the market has always been so helpful And our first ST was Natasha and she was AMAZING We were getting so many improvements in my non-verbal child he was talkingThen Natasha left and we have had 3 therapists since... and then there was an insurance issue... and this is where this goes wrong... REALLY wrongLong story short... Monkey Mouths did not bill correctly our primary insurance and has only been billing our secondary insurance. which I was unaware of until this week My first person of contact started ghosting me and would not answer my calls so then I escalated to the Lead Office Manager. She started out very helpful then turned... I contacted our primary insurance and they told me they have sent the request for prior authorization needed for them to pay the claims but never received it therefore the claims were denied. I was told if MM would just send the prior authorization once again they would pay them all. This was the response I got from Monkey MouthsWe have exhausted our efforts with BCBS. We will not be able to put your child back on the schedule until this balance is paid in full.they wont return my calls and now my child is being refused services... he has been without speech services now since January and has a broken hearing aid that has been needing repaired for over a month we cannot get serviced not to mention its time for his 6-month evaluationhearing test they are refusing and needs new ear molds. All this could have been resolved if they would just submit a prior authorization... BCBS our primary insurance said this was never submitted.I have tried to work with them and now Im done. Interesting that this is their Mission StatementOur Mission is Simple Love Others WellResponse to owners responseI have TRIED calling TRIED working with your people now they are no longer answering my calls. Feel Free to call me directly.

Monkey Mouths in Frisco has been amazing for my child Valerie is sweet and calming while providing quality speech therapy. She works to develop a trusting relationship with children and their families. Jenna pushes my child exactly the right amount to develop needed Occupational Therapy skills. She knows how to use games art and the gym to help children reach their goals while having fun. The front office staff has been easy to work with regarding scheduling insurance and payments. Weve had a great experience here

They really nailed the pediatric therapy needs. This office is adorable- from the soft happy colors to the wall decor the hop scotch on the floor to the thoughtfully placed and mini sized furniture for my kiddo with special needs. The waiting room and therapy rooms are very warm and create an inviting atmosphere. The front desk personnel Lynn smiles and greets us every time- she is kind and willing to explain insurance benefits and work through our scheduling rescheduling needs. Our OT Jody is truly a wonder. My kiddo gets incredibly excited to go work with her because she is just so fun Her enthusiasm and clear directions have made therapy very inviting to my son who has a lot of behavior struggles at home. She has an unending supply of patience and creative ways to make our therapy work feel like be a fun game. Although she has worked with my son for the past 9 months she has taught me so much about WHAT we are doing and WHY we are doing it. She is clearly an expert in this field and so passionately shares helpful tips and tricks for us to try at home. She has catered to our specific needs to create a system that will help us not just in her office but at school and home too. We have made incredible progress over the past year and truly its because of the love and care from our Monkey Mouths therapist Jody Recommend them 10000

My daughter is at Monkey Mouths for Speech and Occupational Therapy. She has Mrs. Avery for ST and Ms. Kaydee for OT and we really couldnt be happier. They treat our girl like shes their child and in the months since shes been there shes progressed so much and we owe it all to Mrs. Avery and Ms. Kaydee. Were there 2x a week for each service and each day they provide us with feedback on how O is doing as well as give us tips and homework so that we can help O at home as well. The waiting area is peaceful and inviting. Everyone there is kind and courteous warm and inviting. My daughter is Autistic and mostly nonverbal but with Mrs. Averys help shes now telling us mostly the things she wants as well as answering yesno questions. She can say help but prefers not to. Shes engaging when playing now as well as is making eye contact when shes being spoken to.With Ms. Kaydee my Little is now using her hands to hold her paper down to color and write can put her socks on her own is opening doors. Her confidence has grown so much more. Were lucky to have Monkey Mouths as well as Mrs. Avery and Ms. Kaydee.

Frequently Asked Questions
Speech therapy is almost always recommended for autistic children since many people with autism have difficulty with social communication. Even if a child is very verbal and says a lot of words, they might need to work on communication skills like:
responding to questions
starting or ending conversation
changing conversation topics
using gestures like pointing
understanding other people's body language
Speech therapy is a big focus in early intervention for autistic children and is usually the starting place for recently diagnosed kids. There is a critical period in the brain for language development and so, it's really important to teach language and communication skills as early as possible, especially if there are any delays in that area. Your child will learn effective ways to communicate which will help them grow into more independent and confident individuals.
It might be obvious when a child struggles with speaking —they are very quiet, say only a few words, or don't speak at all.
Spot speech and language delays like a doctor here.
The goal of speech therapy is to help your child communicate effectively with other people across all environments. This may take the form of using gestures, simple signs, verbal speech, and Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC).
Some other common things speech therapists can help with:
Nonverbal skills, such as signs or gestures
Forming speech in a clearer way
Communicating thoughts and feelings clearly
Understanding and responding to questions
Discerning facial expressions and their corresponding emotions
Noticing and understanding body language
Feeding and swallowing
Stuttering
The occupational therapy process includes an OT evaluation before care starts. Here are the four steps your family can expect when starting occupational therapy:
Complete OT evaluation. An occupational therapist first identifies your child’s strengths and needs through a thorough OT evaluation, also known as an OT assessment or screening. You’ll answer questions about your child’s skills, and your child will most likely demonstrate their skills via hands-on activities with the therapist. Evaluations can last 30 minutes to a few hours.
Approve OT plan. The therapist develops a care plan with individualized goals and customized interventions based on your child’s needs. You can also share any specific goals or concerns before approving the OT plan.
Start therapy sessions. The therapist works directly with your child and your family, using various strategies and exercises to systematically improve areas of limitations and to build upon a child’s strengths. Some exercises your child might participate in are animal walks, obstacle courses, and therapy swing activities. Your family may learn strategies for supporting your child’s individualized needs at home, such as ways of supporting emotional regulation and sensory processing. The therapist may also recommend tools and techniques to use at home, in the community, or in the classroom to help your child succeed.
Monitor your child’s progress. Parents and caregivers can expect ongoing progress monitoring and communication to ensure the child is achieving their short and long-term goals.
Occupational therapy can also be provided virtually via telemedicine. Virtual therapy is a great option for families in rural areas who may not have access to in-person services, or for families who prefer to have therapy in their child’s home.
Virtual OT allows the opportunity for increased caregiver participation and understanding of a child’s strengths, areas of improvement, and generalization of skills in the child’s home environment. Virtual therapy also provides increased opportunities for caregiver and family education to support the child and the family based on each family’s needs.
