Melmark Carolinas

Melmark Carolinas is a Department of Public Instruction (DPI)-approved private school and exceptional children program serving students who require a more specialized special education and clinically-sophisticated environment than is available in a public school setting. Designed for individuals with autism, acquired brain injury, neurodevelopmental disorders, dual diagnosis, and severe challenging behavior, Melmark Carolinas’ 1:2 teacher-to-student ratio allows our highly-skilled staff to focus on each student’s personal growth and development, shaping a learning environment that fits each child’s specific needs and enabling progress on his or her Individual Education Program (IEP). We implement each student’s IEP, as coordinated with the IEP team, through an established model of high quality, integrated special education and applied behavior analytic services. Our programs work in collaboration with community resources and include both pre-vocational and vocational training. A Board Certified Behavior Analyst and a licensed special education teacher oversee each individual’s programming, with all supporting educational staff holding at least a bachelor’s degree. Staff also participate in an array of educational trainings and in-service programs, in addition to extensive professional development opportunities.
