websitefacebooklinkedin

MeBe provides individualized ABA, speech and occupational therapy for children ages 2–17, grounded in strong clinical standards and meaningful relationships.

What matters most to us:

  • Relationships first. We get to know each child and family, building partnerships that strengthen the program and support lasting progress.
  • Clear communication. Families and referral partners receive consistent updates and collaborative support.
  • Coordinated care. We work closely with pediatricians, schools, and other providers so services feel aligned, not fragmented.
  • Individualized programs. Every treatment plan is designed around the child’s strengths, goals, and daily life.
  • Skills that carry over. We focus on practical progress that shows up at home, in school, and in the community.

At MeBe, we believe progress happens when families feel supported, informed, and genuinely partnered in their child’s care.

Founding Story

Abigail Bunt, M.Ed., BCBA

Co-founder & Executive Clinical Director

I began my career as a special education teacher. That experience taught me that children facing challenges related to a speech, language, or autism spectrum disorder don’t make much progress in typical school programs.

It was only when I began training in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) that I knew I’d found my calling. ‘This is science, and it works,’ was my initial reaction, and everything I’ve done and experienced since then has reinforced that early impression. I find it immensely satisfying to work with a set of research-based principles that can be tailored to each individual’s needs. And nothing beats the thrill of teaching ABA techniques to a family than watching them get the same positive results with their child that we get. Those moments are energizing and transformational for all of us. In launching a clinician-owned-and-operated practice, I reso

Frequently Asked Questions

The goal of speech therapy is to help your child communicate effectively with other people across all environments. This may take the form of using gestures, simple signs, verbal speech, and Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC).

Some other common things speech therapists can help with:

  • Nonverbal skills, such as signs or gestures
  • Forming speech in a clearer way
  • Communicating thoughts and feelings clearly
  • Understanding and responding to questions
  • Discerning facial expressions and their corresponding emotions
  • Noticing and understanding body language
  • Feeding and swallowing
  • Stuttering

Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is a therapy rooted in the science of learning and behavior. Using principles of ABA, children and adults can learn to improve their communication skills, social skills, and daily living skills while also addressing problematic or challenging behaviors. The primary goal of ABA therapy is to teach helpful skills that promote independence and reduce harmful behaviors. Here's our complete guide to everything you need to know about ABA therapy.

It's a big decision to make for your family! Applied behavior analysis (ABA) seeks to improve communication skills, introduce productive habits, and reduce harmful behaviors. Watch out for ABA providers who look to "cure" autism.

High quality ABA therapy does exist where the goal is not to “fix” children, make them appear “less autistic”, or change who they are. The goal is to help people learn all that they can so they can live to their potential while embracing their unique, individual personality traits. Here's our complete guide to start and end ABA therapy.

ABA is usually covered by insurance if you have an autism diagnosis. Autism is typically the only diagnosis insurance will authorize for ABA services since its benefits have been researched extensively.

Always check with your specific insurance plan to confirm that ABA is covered for your child’s diagnoses and that the provider you are seeking care at is in-network. Here's our complete guide to everything you need to know about ABA therapy.

“Early Intervention” might be the provider’s way of describing services that they provide to babies or young children. However, it might also indicate that the provider is a vendor for your state’s publicly funded program. This means the services with this provider might be covered by your state!

The first step in accessing these free services from your state is to get an evaluation. The evaluation will help the state determine what services your child qualifies for, if any. You can find your state’s local EI program by clicking here.

When you contact your local center, say “I have concerns about my child’s development and I would like to have my child evaluated to find out if they are eligible for early intervention services.” They will ask screening questions and arrange for an evaluation, which is provided for free.

Here are a few alternative options to consider:

  • Cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT): CBT helps by identifying and changing unhelpful thoughts and behaviors. It's useful for those dealing with social anxiety or difficulties. CBT addresses cognitive patterns and provides strategies to manage social challenges.
  • Group therapy: Group therapy offers a supportive space where individuals can practice social skills. They can feedback from peers and a therapist. It allows interaction with others who understand and learn from each other.
  • Play-based interventions: Play therapy or play-based interventions work well for younger children or those who learn through experiences. Play activities target specific social skills like turn-taking and problem-solving in a safe and engaging setting.

The occupational therapy process includes an OT evaluation before care starts. Here are the four steps your family can expect when starting occupational therapy:

  1. Complete OT evaluation. An occupational therapist first identifies your strengths and needs through a thorough OT evaluation, also known as an OT assessment or screening. You’ll answer questions about you your skills, and you will most likely demonstrate these skills via hands-on activities with the therapist. Evaluations can last 30 minutes to a couple hours.
  2. Approve OT plan. The therapist develops a care plan with individualized goals and customized interventions based on your needs. You can also share any specific goals or concerns before approving the OT plan.
  3. Start therapy sessions. The therapist works directly with you, using various strategies and exercises to systematically improve areas of limitations and to build upon your strengths. If there are others part of your care team, the therapist may teach strategies for supporting your individualized needs at home and may recommend tools and techniques to use at home, in the community, or in the classroom to help you thrive.
  4. Monitor your progress. You can expect ongoing progress monitoring and communication to ensure you're achieving your short and long-term goals.
