I would recommend if you need to go to Marianjoy inpatient RUN AWAY. WORST PLACE EVER. The nurses are clueless its like talking to a wall. I never in my life witnessed such worst care of medical staff like I witnessed in Marianjoy. They dont care about patients. When they see patients coming all they see is dollar bills they care more about getting paid than about taking care of their patients. Marianjoy needs a new set of health care works who actually care about their patients well being.

My moms second stay here was way better than the first The brain floor unit is phenomenal. The nurses and PCTs were amazing with her. They would joke around with her and it was nice to observe. The nurses and front desk staff also helped me secure a code for visitors since my family experienced a bad egg. Ashley Douglas the nurse manager was marvelous as well as the case manager Robin Levine-Rubin. Im glad we gave Marionjoy a second chance.

If you care about your family member you will find them another rehabilitation hospital.Have heard the joke What do they call the guy who graduated at the bottom of his medical classDoctor get it well I feel that is the epitome of this care facility. My grandmother who has Medicare and personal insurance fell and broke her hip on Wed December 27 shes was admitted to CDH for surgery and as with most elderly hip break cases she l developed pneumonia following surgery. Once the pneumonia was under control she was transferred to Marianjoy January 4 for rehabilitation. Part of her rehabilitation would be oxygen. At this point I would also like to add my grandmother has early the onset of dementia. Shes forgetful mostly short term memory such as when specifically to ask for medicine since she cannot remember when she last had it.Over the course of the last few days the following are situations myself mother and my aunt have witnessed1. Withholding pain and anti anxiety medicine from patients at specific times. Even after giving the nurses the specific times we requested my grandmother to have this medicine because with dementia we know she will not ask at those specific times. The nurses are still holding it off. Due to this Lack of responsibility on the nurses part a family member has been staying past the time of visiting hours and refusing to leave until we watch the nurse administer the pain meds.2. The first day of rehabilitation the aid who was assisting in the rehab wheeled the chair into the recliner. No sensitivity or patience. Just swinging it around. This happened more than once.3. The lack of common sense among the staff is absolutely mind blowing. They refused to give a woman who has anxiety anti-anxiety medicine unless asked however an optional treatment which is a breathing treatment and albuterol in that breathing treatment as well as a Mucinex which includes pseudoephedrine in it. These are two things that are optional and increase somebodys anxiety they were given to her in the very late evening I was witnessed to this. So medications this woman gave been on order and that have been prescribed by her primary care physician and ordered by the doctors are being held and refused almost unless asked for specifically by the nurses but yet theyre giving her medicine to make her anxious and not allow her to sleep through the night. She is 88 years old and she just had hip surgery. This is elderly abuse in my opinion and if you disagree please make it make sense. Yes we will be taking this further. Yes we have contacted multiple people at the rehabilitation center. Yes we are looking into what the next step will be. Yes we overstay our welcome past visiting hours until we are absolutely kicked out until we are absolutely sure she has had her last pain med and that she has had her anti-anxiety medicine that she is warm and comfortable. Its really sad to see and hear that this facility as well as CDH has gone downhill the way that it has since Northwestern medicine has taken over. Central Dupage hospital used to be a top-of-the-line wonderful place and I used to hear the great things about Marianjoy. Judging by other reviews I can tell that majority of the people in this area feel the same way that I do about CDH in Northwestern medicine how sad. Go back to hiring people that actually care about their job and deserve to be paid for the way they do it and care good the patients.

We had a great experience here for a pediatric test All of the staff we interacted with were so great. Scheduling was easy and I loved that they sent a video about the test to help prep my child. The team that worked with my child was so kind and patient with her. They also took the time to answer my questions. I would definitely return here for any other needs and would recommend the facility to others.

I arrived to this hospital worried about my loved one. Once I arrived my emotional state immediately deteriorated from the receptionists nasty attitude. I was already worried sick for my loved one. Both receptionists said only two visitors at a time. And I simply asked why expecting a simple professional response like Covid or some sort but instead they responded with hyena-like hysteric laughter at our faces and said thats just how it is. I then asked them why they kept laughing because it didnt stop and one said because Im a happy person with a nasty disgusting smirk on her face.I dont understand this behavior. Keep in mind these were women. Grown adults. You would expect this type of ill behavior from children. They are working the front desk of a rehabilitation center with loved ones in pain receiving treatment. This is how they treat patients family members Horrible and sick attitudes for no reason. How can anyone be so emotionally evil in settings like these

My dad is on day two there. He was very traumatized after a previous stay at a nursing home. He got approved here after a fight with the insurance and was hesitant. His first night he was anxious and said he wanted to go home. Two days in he has worked harder than ever. He said the nurses are so nice He is learning a lot and gaining strength. He loves the food. Today he learned relaxing techniques at his aromatherapy session. He feels really proud of himself after therapy and I am very impressed and thankful

I chose to put my mother in Marion joy because the hospital recommended them. I was told they were the best. My mother had a stroke and needed acute pysical therapy.I feel my mother got quality physical therapy during her stay and since that was the main reason she was there I probably shouldnt complain. However I am very displeased with the doctors and staffs communication and integrity. I am also concerned with the doctors decision making. There was an incident that could have been quite dangerous for my mother. When she was first admitted she was being fed normally for two days. On day 3 I was told that they did a swallow test and she was not swallowing properly. The only safe way to feed her was through a feeding tube. She was aspirating which means some food or drink could enter her lungs. Why was the swallow test not done on the first day. They said this is a common problem with stroke patients so if this is common why was she fed regular food for the first two day without receiving a swallow test. When my mom was first admitted the doctor met with me and was very informative and friendly. He explained the therapy schedule and the staffs responsibilities in detail. He also talked about how I would be kept informed of her progress and said there would be a meeting every Friday to discuss her progress. None of this happened. Except for the therapy. I assume that occurred although I was not present for any sessions. My mother was admitted on a Tuesday and I was there visiting her every day for the first 6 days. There was no meeting the first Friday. The second week she was there I was sick so I could not be there for several days. I called to check on my moms progress and was never able to speak to a nurse or social worker. I left messages and received no return call. I called to see what time Fridays meeting was. I was told to call back in the morning because it wasnt on the schedule yet this was on Thursday when I called back on Friday I was told no one was available and someone would call back. I received no phone call and to my knowledge there was no meeting. The the third week she was there I visited her 3 times and I could see she had made progress. On that Friday I received a voice mail message from my brother saying she was being moved to a different facility because Medicare would no longer pay for the acute physical therapy. There was never a Friday meeting although on that Friday I was informed there was a Monday meeting that I missed. I have no doubt that Marion Joy has good therapy but I am sure other places do too and I would prefer to go somewhere where the staff is accountable for communication with the family. I absolutely would not recommend this facility. Take the time to look around and get good referral s before making a choice.
