Outstanding Staff and CurriculumMy son is on the spectrum and is highly intelligent but deals with some social emotional outbursts. While the behavioral issues are infrequent they can be intense and no other school that I know of can deal on a clinical and emotionally sensitive way better than MSA. They take the time to collect data on behaviors and thoughtfully come up with a plan to address the issue effectively. The small classes and highly trained teachers are adept at finding solutions to everyday challenges these children face. My son loves this school and rushes me every morning to go early because he doesnt want to miss anything. I cant thank the school enough for creating such a wonderful and supporting environment where my son is allowed to be himself and to love learning. Thank you MSA

DO NOT THINK TWICE TO CONSIDER THIS SCHOOLOn March 24th 2022 At approximately 250 PM. I was entering the building with my daughter. Manhattan Star Academy was hosting an open house. For potential children to attend the academy in the near future. As soon as I walked into the building with my daughter. Phyllis Platin who is in the admissions department. Welcomed my daughter and I VERY unprofessionally l. Stating that NO children are allowed. NOT once in the admissions EMAIL was stated that no children are not allowed. Phyllis Platin said I will only make one exception to have my daughter wear a mask. HERE IS THE ISSUE MY CHILD IS A CHILD WITH SPECIAL NEEDS. SHE HAS SENSORY ISSUES ON HER FACE AND HAS A MEDICAL PROBLEM. THAT HER OXYGEN GOES LOW IF ANYTHING IS COVERING HER FACE. When I explained this to Phyllis Platin She COMPLETELY IGNORED AND DISMISSED MY CHILDS MEDICAL CONDITION. My daughter was the child I WAS HOPING that would attend Manhattan Star Academy. I THOUGHT THIS SCHOOL WOULD ACTUALLY HELP MY DAUGHTER WITH HER NEEDS.I exit the building and called the Academy immediately. I explained the situation. A very nice gentlemen over the phone said my daughter can get a Covid-19 Rapid test and we can attend the open house. When the nurse completed the test Phyllis Platin comes out the elevator and her face is in shock. Phyllis Platin nodds her head and said Arianna. I Said NO. I said the gentlemen that I spoke to over the phone said that my daughter and can get a covid-19 rapid test. If my daughter test negative she can go in. Phyllis Platin response was WHO SAID THAT With so much AUTHORITY like if shes the DIRECTOR OF MANHATTAN STAR ACADEMY. We began back and forth. I gave her attitude and I immediately left the building.COVID-19 RESTRICTIONS HAVE BEEN LIFTED THIS WHOLE COVID-19 ISSUE IS OLD NEWS LETS GET BACK TO THE PROGRAMFrom the moment Phyllis Platin denied access to my daughter and I from attending the open house. I asked Phyllis Platin If my daughter goes to this school in the near future does she have to have her mask on Phyllis Platin said NO WHAT SENSE DOES THAT MAKE.IM GLAD THIS HAPPEN. IF THIS IS THE TREATMENT AND THE ATTITUDE MANHATTAN STAR ACADEMY IS WELCOMING FOR SOMEONE LIKE MYSELF THAT WAS INTERESTED IN HAVING MY CHILD TO ATTEND THIS SCHOOL MY ANSWER IS NO THIS IS BIG TIME CHILD DISCRIMINATION MEDICAL AND DISABILITY DISCRIMINATION

after being assured on a phone my son is a good fit and accepting 50 app fee Martina Remy rejected my son with unfortunately we can only put you on a waiting list. 6 months later they got back to me asking for 50 again. What a disgrace to extort money from desperate parents.

MSA has been an incredible gift in our lives. Our son who is 8 and has cerebral palsy has really blossomed over the past 2 years at the school. The teachers are very qualified and the 81 classroom size allows for the personal space and time needed for his growth. We have really also lucked out with the The therapists have been all around GREAT and the facilities are very conducive for learning socializing and growing. The staff from Rae the principal Kevin the VP the social workers the nurse have all been incredibly supportive partners in this journey. Thankful for the role they have played in our lives the past two years and would highly recommend.
