Introduction
Hi, I'm Malisa Lizaola, I am a bilingual (English/Spanish) Speech-Language Pathologist with 12 years of experience providing services across school, private practice, in-home, and telehealth settings. I have worked with children from early intervention through high school, with a strong passion for supporting young children in building foundational communication skills.
I enjoy working in early intervention, speech sound disorders, childhood apraxia of speech, and AAC. I have extensive experience working with children with autism. My therapy approach is play-based, individualized, neuro-affirming, and centered on creating meaningful connections that support communication growth. I prioritize building strong rapport with both children and their families, and strive to create a supportive, engaging, and collaborative therapy environment.
What words would you use to describe yourself?
I describe myself as empathetic, engaging, and collaborative because these qualities are at the core of how I approach therapy. I strive to understand each child and family’s unique experiences and needs, creating a supportive and trusting environment where they feel heard and valued. I focus on making sessions engaging and meaningful by following the child’s interests and using play-based strategies to motivate communication. I also prioritize collaboration by working closely with families, caregivers, and other professionals to ensure consistency and support each child’s progress across all environments.
Who are you best positioned to serve?
I am best positioned to support young children, particularly those in early intervention and elementary age, who are developing their foundational communication skills. I specialize in working with children with speech sound disorders, childhood apraxia of speech, and autism, and I provide therapy that is tailored to each child’s unique strengths and needs.
As a bilingual (English/Spanish) clinician, I am especially equipped to work with culturally and linguistically diverse families and support communication development across both languages.
