Life Focus Center is dedicated to providing an environment that is warm and inviting, where the people that we serve can feel safe and loved. These are all principles of Gentle Teaching, in which our staff are trained. Gentle Teaching techniques are practiced daily. We realize that a number of our consumers have sensory processing difficulties so we work with the Occupational Therapist to develop Sensory Programming. The rooms in our building are reflective of this from the sky swings and rocking chairs to the lotions, scents, and decorations in each department. At LFC we are aware that it is very important to work with each consumer and their homes to provide services which are consistent, to ensure maximum success. We look at the areas in which each consumer would like to focus or where they feel they need assistance, and develop services which address consumer needs in both home and skill building environments. We have a kitchen area in our facility so that consumers who are interested in preparing foods can do so. Consumers are encouraged to be as independent as possible, but also feel that they can ask for assistance as it is needed. Our consumers are very comfortable with this. Staff are trained to be advocates for our consumers so that their lives can be meaningful and fulfilling. LFC also attempts to develop volunteer sites for our consumers. These volunteer sites focus on maintenance type work, so we reinforce this by developing these skills in the facility. We have also been involved in helping other non-profit organizations in preparing flyers/mailings to send out. We are striving to assist our consumers in enjoyable, beneficial activities.Services Provided: Out of Home Non-Voc Facility and Community Skill Building. We address skill areas such as: Adult Daily Living, Communication, Social, Community Experiences/Community Awareness, Kitchen and Personal Safety, Recreation and Leisure, and Vocational- Janitorial/Clerical.
