Introduction

Hi, I’m Lauren Coomber, a pediatric speech-language pathologist based in San Francisco. I work with children of all ages, from early intervention through adolescence, supporting communication across a wide range of needs. My approach is play-based and family-centered for younger children, and functional, curriculum-based, and social-pragmatic for older students. I specialize in early language development, parent coaching, autism and social communication, language and literacy, and speech sound and motor speech disorders. I’m passionate about helping children find their voice while empowering families to support communication in everyday routines.

What words would you use to describe yourself?

Patient
Collaborative
Knowledgable
I take the time to truly understand each child and meet them where they are, creating a supportive and encouraging environment. I value collaboration and work closely with families and educators so strategies carry over beyond sessions. I also prioritize staying informed and using evidence-based practices, while keeping therapy engaging and meaningful. Families often share that I’m approachable, communicative, and genuinely invested in their child’s growth, which helps build strong, trusting relationships.

Who are you best positioned to serve?

I’m best positioned to support children across a wide age range who need help with language development, social communication, speech sound production, and motor speech skills. I have particular expertise in early intervention, parent coaching, and supporting autistic children in building meaningful communication and social connections. I also enjoy helping older students access curriculum and navigate peer interactions. I’m not as specialized in treating stuttering or feeding disorders, so in those cases I may recommend a clinician with more targeted expertise to ensure the best possible support.
