I met 2 good workers there but the others were rude and said I was lying abt being suicidal. I spent most the day in my room and I once fell asleep with my hairtye in and they yanked it out during night searches.

Staff were always a help and Ive been there four times obviously I had disagreements but thats every place and everyone honestly one of the best places Ive been to.Ps a lot of these reviews have not been to many mental hospitals andor have not been to actually bad prison like places as a person that went through various abuses in a mental hospital this one was a good 8 12 outta 10 sure some staff were rude but that was it this isnt my first mental hospital and not only that it wasnt my first time there. This place is a short term its not going to fix everyones problems in 7-10 days if you guys dont feel like you got the help you need I suggest going to a long term or seeking outside therapy. Sincerely mark

Kootenai Behavioral Health is not a good place to find help. They dont care. You had better agree with everything they say or you might get beat by the security team and locked in seclusion and restraints or worse.

I was there Nov. 2020 and I didnt want to leave. Today I learned Dr. H Char H and most of the staff that were there in that time frame have left. I an stunned at the departure of this amazing staff. I owe my on-going fight for sobriety for this amazing loving supportive team. Its a HUGE loss for Kootenai to loose Dr. H AND Char H and all the support staff. HUGE LOSS for those that want help. So disappointed... it was an amazing environment. Kootenai you need to follow that example from Nov. 2020

Do not really recommend. Some of staff were nice but most of the staff were rude and didnt really care about the patients. One therapist that I talked to explained to my family I was exaggerating my issues. Very rude. Nurses were mostly kind but a few were straight up mean. Going to groups were very boring and just talked about rules in that place and coloring. I did not want to go to groups but apparently not going to groups led to a longer stay. There was a very limited visiting time for about an hour during the week and two hours at weekends.Food was pretty good but if you didnt like it and didnt eat you have to stay longer. Being there was like a prison. It WAS basically a prison. You could not leave your room unless you put a staff sign out. You were given crayons a stressball and cards to entertain yourself. Phone calls were very short. Five minutes a day is how long you got. You slept on these blue mats with uncomfortable blankets and a tough pillow. Family meetings were the worst. You were basically forced to talk about your emotions to your parents. I do not really recommend this place. If you are looking into it you should go somewhere else.

Relatively good place. Some of the staff is very rude and make it seem like your being there is a punishment. Family therapy is not an option and refusal leads to a longer stay was put under what is basically room arrest for getting permission to leave a family therapy. Being anything but upbeat and happy leads to a longer stay. The rooms and food was good. You only get to talk to a therapist or doctor two or three times during your average 7-10 day stay. Otherwise you have to rely on the compassion of the nurses. The nurses were very kind and caring it was mostly anyone above a nurse who was not kind.

I stayed in the youth center back in October and it was one of the worst experiences of my life. I was constantly depressed while there and had to hide it so I could get out. It helped but only because I never want to go back there. One of the staff who I dont remember the name of was the most unprofessional person Ive met. She was awful and screamed at us in the groups and called us annoying. It got loud in one of the groups and I asked to leave and go back to my room because I was getting anxiety and she got mad and glared at me so I said nevermind and went back to where I was sitting and restraining myself from crying. The beds were also incredibly uncomfortable. The food was good which was basically the only good part. Its an okay place just to get watched but otherwise its basically a prison.

This place is good to keep someone from hurting themselves. But other than that Theres not much. I had two experiences in Youth Acute neither of which felt helpful. You dont get much time with your family who is your main support group but if you dont want to see them you dont have much of a choice. I was told by multiple staff members that if I did not go to visits it would be put down as denying group which meant longer worse stay.Few staff were truly nice people. And those people were just smaller staff who ran group. The more involved ones such as therapists doctors etc. the majority were rude and uncaring many of my statements and complaints seemed to fall on deaf ears. I asked to have a female doctor because I have a great fear of male adults but the best I got was a female staff present in the room who either didnt stay or didnt show up for the majority of the time that practically glared holes into my head.Due to this I cry every time I feel depressed because Im scared of being sent to the hospital again. I remember the blatant disregard towards my great discomforts the unfeeling tone of two different doctors there and only 2-3 doctors worked at a time and specifically a doctor asking me why I tried to commit suicide then calling me selfish for trying to leave my family behind which is very unprofessional not to mention practically traumatizing to a girl with great fear towards men and a great fear of being a bother to others by being selfish.Ah and even some of the staff that ran only a few groups were disrespectful and oblivious to a patients feeling of discomfort as well as even poking the fire a bit. This was honestly disgusting to see even if it was a few staff that were this extreme I and other patients Ive talked to still remember their face and name. The only doctor though that was helpful was a new doctor that started working after thanksgiving in the year of 2018. Though I do not remember his name I do remember him sticking up for me when some staff did idiotic things such as when one of my previous doctors the one who called me selfish ordered a psych test. Pretty much all the other doctors that he talked to had no idea why he did that but did not question him about it most likely because hes a doctor he knows what hes doing.Overall it will keep you safe from yourself. But if you wish for comfort look elsewhere I suggest.

This place will keep you safe the staff is excellent and knowlagable. The facilitys are top notch well as top notch as they can be and be safe. There are three or four levels all furnished the levels are for the safety of patients and staff. I have never met more caring dedicated nurses a very special shout-out to all of them at KBH They have trained therapists who teach a range of healthy coping strategies they keep things pretty light most of the time taking time to really help those who struggle. There is outside time in a closed off court with basket ball and a garden. The doctors are skilled and generally have a good bed-side manor. Most bad reviews I have seen have been the result of stubborn behavior. thanks KBH I appreciate all you do for me and many of other patients.
