Simply Speaking is dedicated to enhancing lives through better communication, led by Kayla, a passionate Speech and Language Pathologist with over 20 years of experience. Kayla takes a holistic approach to therapy, focusing on the individual’s unique needs to improve communication, behavior, and social skills.

With a Bachelor’s in Speech and Hearing Sciences from Arizona State University and a Master’s in Communication Disorders from San Diego State University, Kayla specializes in serving individuals on the autism spectrum, particularly non-speaking clients. As an AAC specialist, she expertly addresses severe language disorders and behavioral challenges, advocating for those who struggle in traditional settings.

Kayla also supports families in navigating Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in both public and non-public environments. Her therapy integrates sensory integration, developmental play, and behavioral strategies to unlock each client’s potential.

What words would you use to describe yourself?

Caring: I have compassion for children and adults with special needs and their families. Fun: I value the relationship I have with my clients and their families and I want the therapy experience to feel rewarding. Intuitive: I have developed a sense of what a client might be communicating even if they are not speaking.

Who are you best positioned to serve?

I am best positioned to serve children, teens and adults with autism, non-speaking or minimally speaking individuals, those who use AAC devices, those who have social- pragmatic deficits, articulation disorders, apraxia, stuttering or voice disorders.
