Introduction

Hi, I’m Kate, a speech-language pathologist based in McLean, Virginia. I specialize in working with toddlers and young children who are late talkers, autistic, or communicate in unique ways, including gestalt language processors. My approach is play-based, neurodiversity-affirming, and focused on helping your child communicate in ways that feel natural and meaningful. I also support parents in learning how to build communication during everyday routines. I offer in-home sessions in Northern Virginia and telehealth services for families in California.

I bring a deep sense of care to my work and want every child to feel safe, understood, and valued for who they are. Therapy is tailored to each child’s interests through play, movement, and meaningful interaction, helping them stay engaged and motivated. At the same time, I stay grounded in evidence-based, neurodiversity-affirming practices. Building trust with both you and your child is central to my approach so communication can grow in a way that feels authentic, functional, and sustainable in everyday life.

I’m best positioned to support toddlers and young children who are late talkers, autistic, or gestalt language processors, as well as families seeking early intervention services. I work with children who communicate through a variety of means, including spoken language, gestures, AAC, or echolalia. My approach is play-based, relational, and focused on helping communication carry over into daily life. I partner closely with parents and caregivers to build skills in real-world contexts. I may not be the best fit for families seeking a compliance-based or drill-focused therapy style.
