Jonathan A Slater, MD - Irvington

Regarded as a leader in Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry within the hospital and in Child Psychiatry nationally, Dr. Slater created the Pediatric Psychiatry Behavioral Medicine Clinic at the Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital of New York, in 2001. This clinic provides outpatient mental health services for medically ill pediatric patients, providing continuity of care for inpatient pediatric patients to whom the Pediatric Psychiatry Consultation Service has consulted and who require outpatient psychiatric follow-up after discharge from the hospital. The only clinic of its kind in the New York metropolitan area, the clinic now sees over 1000 patient visits each year, in addition to the 1700 visits each year that the Consultation-Liaison service sees. During the exceptional growth of these clinical services, Dr. Slater has directed a clinical team comprised of other attending child psychiatrists, attending psychologists, child psychiatry residents, general psychiatry interns, post-doctoral psychology fellows, and fourth year medical students on electives. Dr. Slater has dedicated his career to being an academic clinician, administrator, and teacher.
