For the last several decades, I have represented parents of students with disabilities to help them understand and navigate the special education process and to identify and obtain the appropriate educational services and placements for their children. It is an emotional experience for parents to watch their children struggle academically and/or emotionally. These parents need to work with an attorney that brings both knowledge of the law, extensive experience in this field, and a passionate commitment to assuring that each child's educational experience is one that is safe and enriching. I am that attorney. I represent parents and students at every step of the process, including identifying appropriate experts that can highlight their child's needs, preparing and participating in all phases of the IEP (Individualized Education Program) preparation process, and filing for complaints and/or requests for hearings at the Massachusetts Bureau of Special Education Appeals (BSEA). In addition, I represent parents in complaints with the U.S. Department of Education Office for Civil Rights (OCR). I have conducted extensive trainings throughout the country on both special education law as well as dispute resolution and effective communication skill.
