About Hideout Theater

We are in the business of improvisational theatre, and have been since 1999. We make up all our shows on the spot. We showcase many different kinds of improv: short form (games like you might see on Whose Line is it Anyway?), long form (longer scenes that feature relationship and character work) or narrative (a full-length play made up on the spot)

Let with no pictures but a happy stomach...a very cool hole in the wall dating back to the Western days. DONT go to Starbucks walk on down to this place. Real eats sandwiches BREAKFAST tacos if you can get one. Coffee sublime and tastes what you would think it tastes like. The Improv portion looks like a must see as well...Cheers

Amazing spot to catch unique improv theater shows. The coffee shop in front of house is top notch as well with the Gorilla Mocha being a personal favorite

Big bash on Friday is similar to Whose Line is it Anyway with ridiculous skits on the spot and had us rolling with laughter Only 15 for a ticket and lots of free tickets were given away for audience participation which was extra fun. Highly recommend

Nice theatre tucked away at the back of a coffee shop. Took in a fun comedy show with a partial pay what you can system which was a nice touch as well. Didnt get to try out the coffee shop during our stay partially because theres not really enough time to order something during intermission unless youre able to order it right away from the app or beat the line out the door.

Post-pandemic reviews are in and this place is still solid. This intimate comedy speakeasy is nestled in the back of a coffee shop. Grab a cuppa or a beer...

This niche little coffee shop was a unique experience. It was not my ideal coffee house but others may enjoy the ambience. The place was incredibly quiet despite having a few people inside. Honestly reminded me of a library. I assume great if you want to read a book or work in peace. What I wasnt exactly impressed with was the staff member who seemed rather uninviting. I dont expect everyone to be jovial but I expect them to look at you and respond politely to questions. I felt as though I was being a burden by ordering a coffee which made my experience uncomfortable. My coffee was better than average but not the best coffee Ive had. Its definitely an acceptable cup of coffee for a quick stop in.If the staff member was more polite and courteous to my ignorance of the options Id probably say this place is a solid 4-star. I realize I may have just had an unlucky experience.

Great atmosphere Nice respite when youve been walking the streets of Austin for hours. The food is good there are outlets for charging and wifi. The performance venue in the back is nice for concerts photos from SXSW but is primarily for improv comedy I believe
