About Head Start Family Enrichment - Abide in the Vine

Head Start is a Federal program for preschool children from low-income families. Head Start provides preschool children with early learning experiences that are aimed at meeting their developmental, social, and physical needs prior to entering elementary school, and since the 2007 Improving Head Start for School Readiness Act, there is an emphasis placed on school readiness. Children and their families participate in programming and activities that are geared toward ensuring that children enter kindergarten prepared for academic success.

I love the programs that are offered here at Family Enrichment. I also think it is a great thing that Family Enrichment sometime can help people or families in need of financial assistance depending on their emergency situation. Gas or electric bills security deposits rent arrears and they also keep in touch with you for a period of three months to make sure things are going well and if your family needs any further assistance in that time. It is wonderful that they do this. Now the only part I do not like is when this school allows complete strangers to walk in and ask to speak to children without the parental permission or even informing the parent that someone came in to talk to your child. I went through this. They allowed child protective services talk to my 4 year old daughter without my knowledge or permission. This is violating my rights as well as my childs rights. The school did not even contact me to let me know. That is a right all parents have so if this has happened to you Id find a lawyer and Sue for a violation of civil rights. Other than that big concern of mine. This is school is pretty good.

The jewel of the community. It offers Head Start Early Head Start UPK programs as well as literacy and GED training special education evaluation speech and occupational therapy services. They also provide medicaid service coordination and community and housing services. They offer family services such as the Kinship Care Program which provides assistance to those raising children who are not their own and the Courthouse Childrens Center which provides childcare at the Broome County Familly Court. Additionally they provide referals and help families navigate additional resources throughout the area. They assess the needs of those that they serve so that they can continue to develop new programs and provide services that enrich the families of our community.
